When I first got the car, I was driving home and the red ABS light came on. When I stopped in a petrol station to get some petrol, the light had gone out. It's come on a couple of times since then. The other day I thought that I'd test the brakes when the light was off, and managed to lock one of the rear wheels. I see that the guy who owned the car before me had it back under warranty for the ABS light on, and it seems that they replaced the ABS sensor on one of the wheels at a cost of £150! Anyone know what's causing this and is there an easy (and cheap) fix?

Try cleaning up the sensors. They may have got contaminated and a good clean up might sort the problem.

Okay, thanks for the advice. Not being mechanically adept, I'll try and get my friend to do it when he services it for me.

Get him to check the wires on each sensor as well as mine had a break in one and this caused the abs not to work and the light to stay on. ( but I think I did it putting in my lowered springs) hehe

Thanks for the advice Olly, I'm getting it serviced next Saturday, and he's going to clean and check the sensors, so I'll ask to to check the wiring too.
