I don’t suppose anyone is likely to be in Cheltenham in the near future or would fancy coming and giving me their view on my exhaust situation.

S14 is the car. Basically I have taken the turbo etc out to replace the lines and at the same time I replaced the stock elbow and downpipe for bigger ones. The fit however is extremely tight. i.e. I had just get things on the end of their threads and then tighten. This has left the downpipe pushed right up against the underside of the car with no movement at all. This to me, is gonna lead to trouble if I start driving i.e. no where for the manifold/turbo to move as the engine moves under revs.

The elbow I have fitted would seem to be exactly the same length as the stock fit one I took off although perhaps a slightly different angle on the bottom plate (S14). The downpipe is second hand, but would appear to be brand new, got it in a driftworks box and the delivery note is for an s14 japspeed flexi downpipe. I know there is a difference between the s14 and s14a elbows and downpipes but not convinced this is the issue. Where is the S14a downpipe longer i.e. the smaller upright section that connects to the elbow or the longer back section that connects to the cat/de-cat.
So the elbow would appear to be S14 as very similar to the one I took off. With regards to the downpipe – driftworks don’t appear to do an S14a downpipe – but they also don’t appear to do one with a flexi section!!

Any views appreciated, or a viewing really appreciated. Have I brought a bit of a red hearing with the downpipe?

Will get some pics tonight.

Cheers

Cheers matt. My plan is, assuming my braided lines turn up in time, to drop everything out again and fit them, then make sure everything such as the elbow etc is on right with a bit of comparison to the old one and see now it looks then. Friday afternoon is the plan.
Friday afternoon or sat morning would be awsome if your available as I am on a bit of a session post that!!

Are you on a STD manifold? Sometimes these don't fit the same and make everything else out. It sound to me like you have a s14a Elbow and a s14 downpipe. Look on the bright side, it won't scrape bumps :wack:

Have the standard manifold still. With a very rough measurment the new elbow seemed to be the same as the stock one I took off.
