OK, i am bored, and am interested in this:

If you had a gun put to your head (bradfod massive stylee :D) and were forced to choose one of the above, which would it be...........

Bearing in mind your not allowed to sell it and buy something else, you gotta keep it and drive it with pride :D

boxters are the porsche equivalent of the BMW 316ti compact.

errr ... boxter anyday ??

1) They make a quick one
2) Looks like you have more money than sence
3) Gives you access to pulling another 1% of girls that are impressed by the Porshe badge
4) Its not a squashed beetle
5) The "S" is actually quite a good car dispite looking like a candidate for a Gay Pride Mascot competition
6) The Transmission loss on a Boxter is about half that of a TT
7) The Boxter Handles ..... the TT just uses 4wd to drag itsself around corners
8) ....... I wouldnt want the image that the TT gives you .... as people pass and think ....... "Ahhhhh ... didnt have enough money for the Boxter huh ???"

TT ........... ppppft ..... what sort of poll is this ?

it'd have to be the boxter, at least you donut it until the tyres blew up, then drive it on its rims until they snap off, then drive it on brake discs until they break!!!!!!

that'll teach it to be so gay:p

Voted for boxster, cos of good rep and friend's impression after driving an "S"

I drove a 225 TT the other week and came away bored and uninspired. It was quiet, very comfortable ridewise and refined like any Audi and that seemed wrong. Brakes were nastily spongey on the one I drove too.
It just did not drive sportily, and did not feel quick at all - there was no buzz of acceleration or excitement gained from holding your foot down.

I know the boxster has no rear seats, but the TT ones are a complete joke. I managed to get in the back, twist my knee til it hurt, then realised the only reason my head was upright was because my head was sticking out the open rear hatch. I'm 5'4" by the way. The dealer helped me get out.

Saying that though, the V6 and the twin clutch 'box are meant to be great!

Never liked Boxters. Plasticky look inside, uninspired looks - 911, only watered down. Not enough performance for the badge, ignoring the S type ones.

I reckon that TTs will be alright to modify, and get some decent power outta them. They are gorgeous inside, the external looks are quite original, even if they are clit cars (every cnuts got one)...

Eh, I'd chose the Porsche regardless?

I actually want a Boxter. Have you ever Driven one? They are absolutely fantastic cars, the sound, blanace, power delivery, road hoding, quality and build are brilliant, and they look cool too!!

Cant afford a propper porsche, the New 'S' is faster in every repect than the entry level 911.

The Boxter is the best Handling and most balanced out of all present porsches bar the GT2 GT3's.

Me too. nowt wrong with them IMO, makes me laugh when people say they are gay etc, they are a proper porsche, not a 911, but streets ahead of the 944/968 etc and any jap car you'd care to mention :p

Aunty's got one (Boxster S), had a go a couple of weeks back and was seriously impressed

Drove a mates "S" last month ............... Woah ... Wish my ***** handled like that ... awesom power delivery ..... so much grip .... and the rasp from them is sooo sweet.

Stops something chronic as well .......... Its all ok putting bigger brakes on the 200 ... but all that did was make the abs come on sooner ...... this thing goes from 150 to 0 ..... without making you sh1t your load :D :D :D :D

I thought the Elise handled better .... but the Porshe had buckets more power ... oh and brake servos !!!!

give the choice between my 200 and a brand new boxter i would keep mine......

just because of the image i have of them, i dont think i have ever gone on a journey and NOT seen one, i just see hundreds of them around.

Exactly my point, the TT is Golf and was never meant to be quick, the Porka is an out and out Sports car, and I will back the above statment up as I too have driven a recent S, and they are magic....

And the Drive train noise is Soooo Sweeeeeet, a Porsche Trademark :D

At least when they did touch it though, they would probably fix it ... instead of the Datsun Monkeys that we have to deal with.

It may shock you to learn that a Porsche service is around the same price as a BMW one, which co-incidently is cheaper than a Nissan Service!! Audi take the biscuit for most expenisve service with an oil and filter change on an S2 costing £180!!!

The convertible breakes up the bubble shape. Otherwise it can be tricky to tell the front from the back....

Any way i must stick up for smiffad on this one, porsche's are poop and only bought by men who know nothing about cars apart from the badge. sorry getting a bit aggressive.

Porsches are one of the best engineered and performing cars on the planet, one of the last bastion of true supercar producers.

A TT is quite simply a GOLF FFS! and I'd rather have a Golf than a TT!

I didnt state that boxters were supercars smiffad, re-read the post!

I clearly mentioned that Porsche produce supercars, with the intetion of illustrating that much of there engineering prowess is used to produce the Boxter!

But then again you like tarted up golfs, maybe a Beetle RS would suit you better :D

actually that was me :) and i know you didnt, its just we are talking about boxters, not GT's or anyother porches :D

I do have a soft spot for a nice new careara (sp?) theres a nice one that parks out side my flat some times with a nice body kit type think on it, brand new and look nice.

Old porches look awful in my eyes, especially the ones with the huge wale type wings on the back.....eeew,

but its all to personal taste.....

Ha ha, quick edit later :D

i like tts for their looks, nothing to do with performace, which is why i wouldnt buy one, have been in one and like em....

not having a pop at you, just the boxter, i have no time for it.

As for porch making supercars, yes they do, but then again BMW make the M3, a very nice, fast car, they also make the 316, a bag oh shite performance wise......... :D

Not overly keen on beetles either, but would have one over a box :D

Well I was an 80's kid and I love the whole Porsche Ethos, the 959 came out at the same time as the 512 Testerrosa, and out classed and out performed it in every way!!

Porsche dont do things because they look good, they are there for a performance reason, like a true super car should, thats what and why the whale tails are there on the 911's

I recon we can, there a company who builds stunning cars (not deniying they make nice cars - accept the box....), then builds the box as a budget, comprimised, vehicle to widen their market, just as BMW make the ikkle series 3's, same as merc do the little merc whatever they are. It is simply built to sell in bulk, not to be a performance car IMO......

similar yes, but the one that parks out side me flat isnt a standard one, thats the only reason i like it...... never really been into porch styling, wlthough they seem to be making some better lookin stuff now.....which reminds me....anyone seen there attempt at a 4x4 yet :D odd looking think that looks like a ferarri/box hybrid on stilts, and an X5 from the back with more exhaust..

The um, "modded" one with the "standard" porsche addon body kit you mean ;)

I bet its also been modded with the "Porsche sports exhaust system" which means the dealer removes the cats for you as well as it being a little bigger!

There is no "modded" Porsche, they are all Tailored cars, unless you perchance take it to Mr Ruf, or to a serious racing eastblishment like 930 motorsport ;)

If forced I'd take the Boxster. Its a great drivers car with an unfortunate image, so as an SX200 owner I can relate to that !

Seriously, its a fine drive, while the TT isn't at all communicative or exciting to drive IMO. The SX crushes it as a sporting driving experience IMO, though its nicely built and I'm sure a cast-iron ownership proposition.

But, presented with that choice a while back I bought & VX220 and an SX200 instead of either the TT or Boxster !

Sorry but it would be bye bye S14 if someone handed me the keys of a Boxster :D Used to think that they was a poor mans Porsche but since a work mate brought one i now realise its still a fooking Porsche :D :D :D :D  There are alot of posey twats that are driving them like they have gone and spent 80k on a 911 but this dont change the fact they are very nice cars. Just look at this

How can anyone say they wouldnt want that on their drive

.....Or perhaps they have made something of themselves in life and want something to show for it, such a shame how this can attract such jealousy and irrational comments.

The audi TT is not my choice either but the boxter is hardly crap now, lets think.....

Advantages:
Convertible so great in summer and desireable - check
Fast enough to outrun most 'run of the mill' cars - check
Porsche image and heritage, nuff said - check
6 cylinder boxer engines, mmm that noise and smoothness - check
Rear wheel drive, the drivers choice - check
Great weight distribution and handling - check
Looks, great inside and out - check
Resale prospect, good since depreciation is low and demand is high - check
Reasonable build quality (I should imagine) - check
Security, good level as standard - check

Disadvantages:
Costly to buy
Costly to service (well more so that nissan main dealers?)
Costly to insure

There ya go, not so bad after all is it, especially if you were given one for free!

:)
