My sister wants to up-grade her car... she currently drives an R reg VW POLO 1.4CL 3DR. It has 104,000 miles on the clock (motorway miles) and drives perfectly... she has had aftermarket things installed such as a sun roof...

She went to a VW dealership and they quoted £1000 for a part exchange for another VW 1.4L...

Is that right? I cant find anything on the net to compare the used price with the correct mileage... however Autotrader stated that if the car is in A1 conditions (which it is... believe me) and has 50,000 miles, the car should go for just over £3000..

Are the Dealership trying to knock her? see was quite upset when they told her the amount... what do peeps think?

Can anyone do a quick check for me and see what price the car will go for with 104,000 miles.

Cheers,

Tim

Yeah, Parkers gives a similar value for trade price on that car. You'd have to knock a fair bit off for the mileage, but you should still be looking at nearer 2-2.5 thou.

Sounds like it. If you can afford the inconvenience, always better to sell it privately, IMO. Don't let it go for a grand though, especially if it's mint. You'd probably see it on their forecourt next week with a £5000 sticker. b*stards.
