View Full Version : The Royal Mail in 'Childish Sulk' shocker!

I recieved a parcel yesterday that had been posted to me 8 days previously, and sent first class... The Royal Mail, being the profesional caring organisation that they are, gave it to the underpaid temp to sort (or so it seems), and it arrived at my house in approx 1000 pieces, with a 'We're sooooo sorry (not)' note attached, or words to that effect.

I rang up their customer services, and asked how this miught have happened, and got no real answer. I said 'This isn't very good at all, is it?', quite calmly, and the woman at the other end of the phone went silent, and wouldn't say anything until I spoke again!

She did this several times, when I asked questions such as 'How might this have happened?', and 'Are your parcel handlers inept?'. Not once did I raise my voice, swear or get angry.

Now, it seems to me that to cover up their incompetence the Royal Mail are resorting to a rather childish game of not saying anything! As with all criminals (it is, I believe, criminal damage they comitted) they have the right to silence, but this is taking it a bit far!

Has anyone else had an experience like this with them? What can I do to shake them up a bit???

Put in a claim for damages for the value of the parcel.
They will have to open their mouths then.

They have very perticular guidelines for how an item should be packaged. I recieved something that was broken in the post and despite the fact that it was sent as an 'insured' item thru them, they would not pay out as the way it was packed did not comply with their guidelines  :(

They will do anything to get out of paying up for anything they've damaged.

Perhaps the written appology is an admission of guilt though?

Surely they should inform you that its not packaged correctly while trying to send it in the first place, oh no that would actually mean them doing their job properly and being 'helpful'

Amount of time our post has gone missing due to a new postie really takes the biscuit! :(
