Using MP8. Refuse to use MP9 due to DRM introductions.

After shutting the comp down, it still didn't work.
Then I logged off and logged on as another (new) user, and under that profile it worked, so I thought its got to be a setting.
Ran media player and it was back. I did nothing to fix it. Bloody Microsoft shite.

Cheers for the help tho Dave:)

Right,

If it's in your profile, try deleting these folders ..

"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player"

and

"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player".

You'll need to turn on hidden / system files to do this (although Im sure you know that ;) )

Dont think I worded that very well there. After trying everything to get it to work, including various restarts, I then decided to log on as another user. For this other user, It worked. I then logged off and logged on again as me, and it worked. No idea why.
