So many out there, even a single manufacturer such as Nike has 3 or so heel designs to absorb shock. To be used for road/pavement, duration 5 miles. I dont do white, they look filthy after 2 minutes. A full black leather which I prefer Im thinking might cook my feet, whilst a very venting/cooling design in the rain would not be fun playing with the puddles.

Go to a proper running shop and let them advise you what shoes to get. They'll watch you run in various shoes, use machines to measure the pressure distribution of your foot etc..

HiTec Silver Shadows  I shit you not, I've tried loads of different pairs of running shoes, and they're the best I've ever owned.

Hey, I remember them, theyve been around almost as long as I have. They must be a classic in the trainer world !

Depending on the shape of your arch and the way your foot strikes you need different shoes to compensate. My missus had a decent pair of Nike running shoes but used to get really tight Achilles tendon problems the day after running - we went to a proper running shop in Oxford where they make you walk across a pressure pad which shows how your foot rolls and they recommended some shoes based on that. Her tendinitis has been 100% better ever since...

Yeah thats what my brother did. The trainers cost a fair bit but save you from damaging yourself!

Great help that thanks, £95 those Asics, think I will stretch to £80 max. Asics seem a good make, but with that tea bag design Im worried about getting my feet wet.

You can buy the sensor for about £15 and put it under the laces of any pair of trainers - works just the same... :)
