Cheers :)

I need a 100% pay rise.

In Autotrader they start at around £8.5k and there are quite a few around the £10-11k mark

I've considered this coz I could just about afford to buy an R32 or maybe even stretch to an R33 but there is no way I could afford to maintain it to the standard the car would demand. Buying is one thing with Skylines but you have to be able to pay the bills that go with them.

R32's are fantastic, i really do want one, theres something about them which just seems tougher than a 33 or 34..

regards to cost, i have seen pretty good examples for 10k, with about 50,000 miles on em, coilovers, set of wheels and some other small stuff, black models are the most sought after and rare...

absolutely sweet car and has the tougher block outta the 32,33 and 34 range

Paul_S13

I need to do some research, if I decide to go ahead then I'll put the 200 back to standard and flog the bits, but I may keep the T34 :D

12K will buy you a rather nice one... 8k will get somthing not too bad...

Shin at Prospec and Andy from SumoPower both start at abuot the 8k mark... :)

lovely car... and one day!

Gun Grey Metallic is the ONLY colour to have an R32GTR :D
The VSpecII is nice with the gurney flap on the boot and the bumper vents etc... :)

Dan,

I'd never get an R33 because they cost too much and they weigh too much.

R32 is a beast, weighs marginally less than a R33 and is probably the cheapest option.

R33 is too rounded

R34 GTR is simply stunning, just look at 2 fast 2 furious for an example of how amazing this beast is.

Ive seen a 450-500bhp R32 on autotrader for £9,000 which sounds reasonable and its black.

The one Jenski found is bloody mean!!! Man, the front splitter makes it look like a killer!.

Now thats a R32 GTR!

I'm very tempted  my other plan is to get a westfield/cateram type car and fit my current engine into it. :D

what shall i do?!?!? :)

Mark

I think the caterams are smashing toys but thats all they are, wouldnt want one as my only everyday driver. I would get a R32 if it was me

Paul, you not gonna miss RWD? Always thought I'd love a GTR but after driving the 200 I don't know if I could go away from RWD. It's too much fun :D .

Reason enough not to want one:rolleyes:

Paul, there is an importer in Bristol who seems to have them constantly at around 9K. A consultant came in to the office in one on Friday, nice example and the guy said that he was thinking of making Abbey his new second home:eek:

Caterham JPE was 250 BHP, fastest accelerating production car at 3.2 seconds or summat like that.

Caterham PS13 ;) with ~400hp = very interesting :D  :notworthy  :wack:

I've just used the 1/4 time calculator on this site http://www.turbofast.com.au/javacalc.html and filled in the specs of a caterham/westfield and 350bhp, it says I could do a 9.5 1/4 with an ET of 142mph!!!!!!! (with slicks, ideal start etc etc)

Thats bike territory, I think the R32 idea has been scrapped! :D

Paul i was lukey enough to be taken out in a r34 with 500 bhp at the wheels. Dam that was fast. The guy did not evan know the road we where on.

Just asked me if there was any speed cameras which i replyed no and he just floored it. Fast as feck in a straight line and just as quick round corners.

Go for the 32, but if ya win the lotto have a 34.

Paul_S13
23-06-2003, 22:31
Nah, I'm not going Skyline anymore, even with 500bhp it still only has apower to weight ratio of 333bhp, a small kit car that weighs 700kgs and has 350 bhp has a power to weigh ratio of 500bhp per tonne! it would give a skyline a very very hard time. :D

Jez
23-06-2003, 23:02
I've been thinking about the kit car route for a while now - got to be the way to go. At least the fecking brakes should be able to stop 700kg of car without having to change pads every 1,000 miles...

The best car I've driven (so far) was a caterham super light R - about 450kg and only 190bhp. 400bhp in a 5-600kg would be a laugh :)

Kev

dundeeguy has built a caterham7 i think, could be wrong.
I like the idea as a track car, but not as an everyday affair.Am i the only one who thinks r32's look mingin?
No offence Matt.

Yay, the good ol' Locost!
Buy the book "Build your own Sports Car for as little as £250" by Ron Champion - Halfords stock it I think :) It basically tells you how to build a Caterham style car from scratch :). It's somthing my Dad has been wanting to do for ages now, and seeing that I have a spare CA18DET lying around thought we might as well give it a go (have to get the 200 finished first though  ).
A few usefull websites:

The thing is that I would want one that has already gone through the SVA test, I can't be arsed to build one fully, I would loose interest and give up, if its just an engine swap then thats not too bad.

I recently chipped a kitcar (can't remember which kit is was though :o )with a CA18DET in it. Its going to be featured in Which Kit out on the 18th July.

It was running about 260-270bhp in a 500kg car - I didn't get a go in it but it must have gone like a rocket.

The owner was at Castle Combe at the CCC track day - he said nothing overtook him :)

Paul, you wanna look for an unfinished project. Loads of people do exactly what you just said, get halfway through and lose interest.

Well if its an unfinished build then its still got to go through the SVA, i've done a bit of research and there are a few makes out there....Tiger....Robin Hood Engineering etc etc an there are a few forums too, the way I see it is that if you can fit a V8 in it then a CA won't be much of a problem.

But it would still have a HKS Hiper muffler fitted, I wonder how that would go down with the kit car fraternity? :D :D

And with a calculated 1/4 of just over 9.5s who would realy care about lights! ;) :D

Oh and it was Tiff that posted the 0-60 (British Record) of 2.96 or something on his first attempt in the twin-engined Tiger, second attempt threw a rod.
Previous official record was 0-60 in the RS200, 3.76seconds I think, well done Clarkson for bending one of them, lanky tit!

The build your own sports car books not a bad place to start.

Been thinking similar about CA in a Westy/7 type beasty, though is the CA possibly too tall an engine for a 7?
Widened and shallower sump?
