Recently, IE has been forcing me to save any pictures I find on the internet as BMPs regardless of the format they are. What's going on and how do I fix it?

Cheers

This happened to me also. Had to reinstall windows unfortunately. File association for jpg and other high compression ones for some strange reason decided to uninstall.

Do what i did to relieve the stress - ring up the helpline for microsoft, and instead of getting through to a "IT Helpdesk Assistant " - basically a monkey with a phone and an Abacus, ask to leave a message - then proceed to take out all your anger on the silly cow who is the voicemail provider. They ring you back and apologise for the problem, whilst trying not to sound scared, Worked for my mate also.

Anyway, just to a custom install and select the file associations and other related batches. I had a cracked version where you could "click and drag" file from the CD-ROM drive to whereever they needed to be, sys32, etc. Handy that.

Enjoy. :( :)
