That stuff it like an old fart in a brothel - never get rid of it.

Best to cut that part of the drive up and replace it.:D

Sorry :|

Washing up liquid, 200g of sugar, white spirit - all in one bowl and scrub for your life. Thats what i did, worked after a while.......a long while....

Anything that dissolves the oil will dissolve tarmac (assuming it is tarmac).
Best bet is to spill some more and spread it evenly (and quietly)

A big bottle of "Febreze"? :p

Or a bottle of D16920 "Oil spot cleaner" from Screwfix might be more usefull....

Solvent will remove any petrochemical from just about anything. Thats what we use to remove sludge and all that good stuff at work.

Lots of brake cleaner might work. Carb cleaner leaves deposits.

Tried "Gunk"? Its a degreaser and works for me after every oil change (cos I always spill some!! ) Might be different with gearbox oil but worth a try I'd say.

What's the surface ?

Tarmac, concrete or brick?

Kev

LIGHT COLOURED CONCRETE
and its alot harder to shift than normal oil im afraid.

Gotta be worth trying the equivalent of white wine on a red wine spill.

What about meths (evaporates too quickly) or white spirit.
and a stiff brush (but not fiasco's mum's brush)

dont laugh but coke will remove engine oil just lash it on and leave it overnite or as long as you can then just wash away , it works real good with engine oil on my block paving so it may work on gearbox oil , tip here
dont get the happy shopper stuff get the real coke and not that diet crap either it really does work

cleaned my racer up reacently outside flat on concrete block paving. 15 year old oil and grease everywhere, tried a litre of coke didn't work at all.

Going to try caustic soda next. You should be able to get it from a good hardware shop.

I would advise checking out the MSDS for Caustic Soda before you use it though. (Material Safety Data Sheet)

there's one on here (http://www.birdbrand.co.uk/msds.htm)

Somewhere like ARCO will sell concrete cleaner/acid quite cheap. If there's plants beside the drive you can kiss em goodbye though
