As some may know I've been having issues with my car as of late, mainly my water pump.

First one was the one in the car that died after 2 years, bearing gone
Second one bearing had gone just after 1/4 mile down the road after fitting - getting a refund
Third one I bought from Days in Swansea and fitted this evening. Complained of a squeal a few times earlier but still drove it around. 30 miles later and decided to give it some power before going home, got into 2nd gear and this:

Could things get any worse? :furious::cry::cry::cry:

I would say you need a new viscous fan mate! Seems like its out of balance and has munched its way through your water pumps :(

Do you think you could get this one replaced under warranty?

The alternator pulley and water pump pulley look a bit shiney? have you replaced them???

How much would the viscous fan cost for the s13? Would it be worth replacing it for 2x electric fans at the front or no?

I'll see what can be done in the morning, just really annoyed right now. I've had to leave the car parked over the units overnight so do hope it's going to be safe there, I've got my disklok on etc but still dont' trust it!

New pulleys indeed, bought the Apex set of pulleys from them along with all new belts etc :indiff:

Hmm well electric fans are a good investment but entirley necesarry.

I had a water pump let go in very similar fasion before and that was down my neglegence and only putting 2 of the nuts on that hold the fan on ! (silly silly mistake)
I made my fan go out of balance and snapped the pump just like yours!

But also excessive wobble / play in hte viscous fan could cause this too! a replacement fan will cost you beer tokens from someone on here (if indeed its the fan that needs replacing)

More likey the belt was too tight and destroyed the pump.

I had it done at the garage this time and we done everything up by the workshop manual this time for the belts so don't think it could still be that? I know it has been known for the belts being too tight to cause this but :confused:

Just checked the damage on it now as I couldn't see a whole lot last night.
Looks like I need a new rad, currently got the RACE one on there atm but I'm sure there'd be some going in the breakers/for sale section unless you lot know of one I can pick up second hand or something.
Viscous fan seems OK, bearings fine and everything all tightened up.

Dad brought up that it had only been causing me such problems after putting on those Apex pulleys and think the cause, or possible cause would be from the one on the alternator which could be slightly out of line. Going to put all standard pulleys back on, new belt, new water pump (4th time lucky?!) need to look for a new rad, fan started to rip into my cambelt covers but I've got a replacement for those or might just need the bottom half.

But we followed the advice from here http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=458956 and tightened everything correctly, maybe that squeal I had was from the alt pulley? hmm...

Is there anyone pretty local who are a lot more experienced with the s13/200sx to check my car over then once I done all this? Would obviously pay in cash/beer/both as this would prob be me last time replacing these otherwise
