Any one travelling to Thailand .....

Anyone on here go there for holidays :confused: I go every year for a long period but i am not sure if i should book flights yet :rolleyes: I am not going till november but just wondering if anyone else is going and as just booked :rolleyes: Even with everything going on in Bangkok :mad: Seems to be getting nasty there :eek: i have friends over there and they really dont know whats going to happen :annoyed:

I haven't looked in detail at the extent of the current civil unrest in Bangkok, but my gut feeling is that it wouldn't bother me too much if I was planning on going to Thailand in 6 months time.

At the moment, I would probably be looking at flying in to Bangkok and flying straight out to somewhere like Chang Mai or Kanchanaburi. Perhaps even head out to Cambodia to see Angkor Wat complex which is truly amazing. You can get direct flights out from Bangkok to Siem Reap.

Places I would also currently avoid are the places the typical Brit abroad would go, so Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya etc. They're mostly crap holes anyway.

Thailand survives on tourism to boost the economy and I really can't envisage the Thai government permitting the unrest to adversely effect this economy boost on a long term basis. The damage to the country would be too great.
