View Full Version : 97 180SX SR20DE loom info please
I've fitted an SR20DE to my Mazda B2000 pickup and could do with a little wiring info. I know most of the F8 and F10 plugs as they are similar to the normal Uk car but just want to clear up what I'll need to make it run. I'm not sure what the fuel pump wire is as I believe the colour has changed.
I have the batt and ign 30A from F8
Ign 10A, neutral and ign 30A from F10
Actually I don't need the fuel pump feed as I'm fitting an aftermarket pump due to the original being mechanical.
From the White plug by the ecu, I only need the tacho feed really so I can fit a rev counter. I'll use the original water temp gauge sender and wiring.
Can anyone see anything I've missed, and is there a 180sx SR20DE pinout out there?
Cheers.
Mitch, try to get hold of John Bennett. I think the paperwork I gave him had a wiring supplement for the 97 SR.
Might need a little translation as its all in Japanese.
Cheers, I'll ask him if he comes on but I'll crack on with it first and give him a shout when it all comes to a shuddering halt.
Right, I have most of the info from one of Senor Bennett's guides. http://media.sxoc.com/contributors/s13faq/180sx%20blacktop%20ECU%20harness.pdf The man's a hero (again) It's SR20DET not DE but is pretty similar.
Am I right in assuming that the red/black "signal wire for ECCS" is a 12V feed or is it a signal for/from something else?
Black/white "From ECCS relay to pins 38/47" Is this coming out of the ECCS and therefore no connection required?
Black/Yellow "AAC pin 4" Is this a 12v feed or signal?
So far I think I need (apologies for posting this but it's for my own reference)
Brown plug F10
Red/Black 12V ?
Black/Red Fuel pump relay signal (earths out the fuel pump relay that I need to fit)
Green/Orange Neutral (Don't think I need this?)
Brown Ign 10A 12Volt
Grey plug F8
Black/Red Thick wire Ign 30A 12volt
Black/white Ign 12V from ECCS relay to pins 38/47 ?
Red Battery 12 Volt
Black/Yellow AAC pin 4?
Does this sound right? I need to get it up and running by Thursday as I'm away Friday and Saturday and taking it for painting Sunday :D

Cheers :)
just bumped a thread for you in tech 14 with a bit of info in it on eccs mate, called injectors not firing.
Thanks, I'll have a look now
Does anyone have a pinout for the 1997 180SX SR20DE?

john benentnetn to the sort of rescue again..

this is the only pinout i got that was confirmed as for the RWD sr20de. page 4 in particular.
when i was pissing about with it, i was going to use an existing SR20DET pinout to figure out some of the common japanese characters between them and then translate that way.
at the end of the day the eccs pickups (the grey and brown plugs) are going to be the same, the only difference in the DE and DET is the actuator wiring which is controlled directly from the ecu.
if i were you mitch id use the DET plug layout description for the two wing plugs, and the same for the interior dash plug
Brown plug F10
Red/Black - goes to the eccs relay
black/pink - trigger from ecu to fuel pump relay
green/orange- to inhibitor relay, you can leave this alone
black/yellow - to fuel pump relay and also slices off to fuel pump itself
brown - ignition 10amp fused
green/yellow - air con relay, not needed
Grey plug F8
Black/Red- ignition relay, splices off to ignition power unfused
red - to two pins on the eccs relay and splices to 12v constant via a 25amp? fuse
Black/white - to ignition relay AND eccs relay
blue/green - air con relay, not needed
large blue/red- ignition relay
white - det sensor
black - det sensor
that should sort you out

Cheers Mark but some of the wires are different between the two models, which is why I was after the extra info. I'll crack on with it today and see how it goes.
Thanks again, and also to Alan for the link

you could use the ecu fuel pump wire to switch the fuel pump relay.
I'm sure I already said I'm going to do that mate?
Anyway, I fired it up today, and nearly blew my eardrums out as I have made up the exhaust yet. Just need to sort the charging problem and the not turning off when you remove the key problem. Not sure if it's because the alternator plug isn't wired in yet but I'm guessing it is :wack:
After that I'll connect the wiring proper and tidy it all up. If anyone has any suggestions on how the alternator is wired in (Norfy ;)) I'm all ears :D
ok, on the alternator...
2 pin plug on the side....
-white/red, goes to the bulb check relay and instrument clusters battery wrning lamp
-large white, joins to the other larger white on the back of the alternator. they then go to the battery 12v via the large 75amp fusible link (fuse)
on the back of the alternator....
-large white, we already know
-black, to earth
thats it.
not turning off when you take the key out isnt to do with the alternator, id check your ignition feeds at the ecu. you may have picked up a constant 12v instead of a switched 12v.
Cheers man. That's just me not thinking as the 12v were all run off the same feed ie permanent live. Would have found out when wiring them to their relevant feeds but thanks for clearing it up as it saved me some hassle.
Do you know what's what on the body side of the charging feeds, as I can then just wire the 2 alternator wires straight to them?

good thread this, should help me out when doing this the other way around, SR body loom to CA engine :D
Yep, it's been helpful, as the engine runs  but not too often until the downpipe and system is on as it makes your ears bleed :wack:
Your starter/alternator/gearbox/etc loom is still intact BTW. Call me when you need it back :D

pics? :D
ill drop you a pm in a while about getting it back :)
Here ya go. Just need to trim the fan down as it's catching the induction pipe, finish the exhaust and sort out the fuel pump relay, as that ECU wire didn't work.

Did you ever get round to doing this Alan?
I've got another 97 typeX 180SX SR20DE loom to sort and could do with finding where all the F1 feeds go to on the car. I assume the dash gauge ones are all the same colours as the earlier S13's and some of them are for Consult. Just trying to sort everything else so I can get this to fit my Vert and also make an S14a SR20DET loom. I've got most of it sorted, just want to double check no one's found the right pinout for the V6 23710 60F00 ECU.

I didn't :D - I'm fitting an RB now - which makes it easier as the RB25 R33 powers the ignition coils internally to the ECU loom using the blue relay on the ecu loom (on the spec 2 for sure anyway) rather than powering it from an external relay.
from memory, for F1 the colours aren't the same (but some are similar). since I'm not using any of the diagnostics I'm going to be swapping over the kouki wiring for the interior of the car to a standard UK CA plug (which I've already used on my RB conversion harness). I'm using john bennett's very *very* helpful scans/work on figuring out the loom for these.
