How do/did you guys get into it? Always been interested in trying it out and learning a lot more. Would also give me a few more techniques to play around with when driving (heel/toe and all that).

Are there any places I can like jump in someone's car (preferably a 200sx/driver on here) some time and check things out? Would think that would be a better option than booking some track time and oversteering my way around the track lol. I see places like DWYB/drift-inc etc allow you to have some passengers for an extra £10 and what not.

Don't know if you can get some schools similar to rally but drift-based?

What sort of stuff would you ideally need to upgrade then, if anything, for your casual drift fun on the odd track days? Would standard suspension/lowering springs be OK for the job or would you need the whole shizzle? I've seen people drifting fine in stock cars but wondering what others have done.
Being my only daily driver I can't afford to keep knocking the car around and having to replace the bumpers etc but fine with an extra set of wheels to knock up for tracks!

Posted in this section as I was looking for something more local and tips off some of you who already do this stuff. There's only so much one can get from watching the drift bible on repeat :wack:

Hi mate, first off what car do you drive? you ideally want something rear wheel drive with a 1.5 or 2 way diff (a welded diff would surfice but you said it was a daily and that would be a pita to drive everyday)

standard shocks wouldn't cut it your probably going to be needing a set of coilovers.

you'll also need a bucket seat if you don't want soar knees and you'll need a lid, thats about it really mate. There's plenty of other stuff but that's mainly it oh and 4 wheels and as many tyres as you can get your hands on

it will cost you

price of car
350 for a second hand set of coilovers
100 for a bucket seat
40 for a harness
25 quid for a lid
150 for a 1.5 way diff
40 to get the tie rods machined to get more lock

as for tips all i can say is just get out there and give it a go. Get as much seat time as possible.

If your at llandow on the 26th of this month i'll take you out mate :)

That's the best advice, you can learn with tips off people but trying it yourself is the best way  if you have an hour spare look on google vids for "the drift bible" :D

Cool nice one. I may pop down there
Driving an s13 (facelift) at the mo, it has KYB front shocks and koni rears but eventually when I can afford it i'll prob end up getting the apex gen 2 kit. Will be on the look out for a second set of wheels so I could use for fun/track time and just keep practising on them while keeping what I have now for daily.

Cool tbh the suspension you have should be fine mate.

the only reason i said about another set of wheels is because you don't have to wait for tyres to be changed then and you get more seat time :)

You'll just need to sort your diff out thats it mate really

Any particular lid I'd need? Full face I'm guessing but would it need to be SA rated or is that not necessary? I've got a FF one from my motorbike if that's any cop?

M&P motor factors use them. I bought my lid for £25. It's a full face lid pretty decent actually lol.

I probably would recommend not a full face one though as they are a pita mate, you'll always keep the visor open

if you have any lid thats fine mate

cool, llandow was my very first event i ever did. That was the start of the dammage to the s15 lol.

learned a lot since then (i hope) so would be great to get back there now and try some high speed wand initiations in to the bus stop. Just hope the car is still in one piece after pembrey on sunday

Nice action at 2:15 :wack:
What's actually going on down there on the 26th then? Will be working nights on that day so should be all fine to go to llandow! Will take a few pics for people too if they want some done.

This should be ok for a passenger shouldn't it?
