My Bro and I ventured out to the new look Silverstone to watch the GTs on Sunday. The weather was pretty damp to say the least but dried up later in the day. Some great racing with some lovely engine sounds from the Vettes, MC12, Aston and the stunning GTR.

For those who have been to LeMan or seen the Vettes in action the GTRs have a similar 'American' V8 rumble with seamless shift change.

Although the race was won 'on the road' by the #7 Aston Martin of Darren Turner / Tomas Enge it was subsequently disqualified over a technical infringement handing victory to the #22 Nissan GT-R of Warren Hughes / Jamie Campbell-Walter.

2 laps in a Vette went past us at Becketts with flames coming out of the back. It got as far as the bottom of Hanger straight and went up big time. I saw it in the pits afterwards in its newly, very melted state

Here are some pics of the day taken by my bro, not too bad considering he didn't have a media pass for this and Silverstone has fences everywhere. GT1 PHOTOS (http://www.pbase.com/trackside/fia_gt_championships_silverstone2010)

Excellent photos he's got there. He's done very well considering how far you must have been from the action

Looks like it was pretty cold and wet though!

Kept the waterproofs on all day. This is Silverstone, it is at least 5 degrees colder than anywhere else in the area!

The new track is really good, although it is a mud bath at the moment. I can imagine a few complaints for this years GP if the weather is bad as the new areas are not established yet.

Its a bit weird walking down to Club corner and seeing the new pit wall in place ready for the GP pit/paddock. Abbey corner now goes right, across the middle of the old south circuit. Very fast sharp corner which is going to be great for direction change with an F1 car.

The Arena section is slow but was good for outbraking moments.

Have a look at the vidoes of the race to see where the new track goes http://gt1world.com/.

Thanks for sharing photos. I was there with a mate, I'll try and get some of the photo's he took. I thought I was just being a southern softie, glad to know everyone else was friggin freezing as well :D.

Although the GT1 was the main attraction I thought the GT3 race was awesome as well. The Green M6 was the most mental sounding car of the day for me, shame it had such a big off. I have some pics of the aftermath somewhere.

Pretty sure this is British GT, not the same series as FIA GT. Will still be good, but no Sumo Power :( to cheers on.
