So, it's that time of the month where I read about something on the internets and then tell you lot about it :smash: This time, Focus stacking, I love it!
I don't have a true macro lens, but my 24-70 seems to do a decent job.
At f8 I get this.. Barts Pepper corns sharp, the rest trailing to a nice blur.

With focus stacking, you focus manually on one thing, say the Bart's Pepper pot and take a shot. Then change focus to the Mustard Seeds and take a shot, then Rosemary etc.. Then using something like CombineZP http://www.hadleyweb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/CZP/News.htm or http://www.heliconsoft.com/heliconfocus.html you combine the images.
I used Helicon for all mine.
With a few images you end up with this..

There are a couple of errors where I haven't focused well enough on the Mustard seed jar and the Tesco thing, it's a little smooshy.
You can then do cool macro shots of electronics with huge depth of field.

Obviously on Flickr there are some ridiculous shots, some of the insect ones are crazy. http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=Focus%20Stacking&w=all&s=int
