What is anti-lag and how does it work? I know it makes the exhaust and turbo last about 10 minutes but nothing other than that.
Ta :)

Very basically as you lift off it injects fuel into the turbo exhaust housing and as it explodes it keeps the turbo spinning. :)

I did work out how to do it in a fashion by fooling the ecu, then I thought about the fact it would half the mpg and melt things in the process so decided against trying it.

Mechanic mate who works on my car fitted his homemade anti-lag to his racing Starion.
Basically he runs an extra rotor arm in the dizzy to alter the timing so the fuel is burnt very late and sparks when the fuel is exiting the combustion chamber and going in to the turbo, where the turbo heat ignites the fuel and keeps it spinning :)
Sounds awsome when he warms it up and revs it in his Garage :D :D

I am going to give it a go methinks
It is possible on the SR motor, Ive seen a GTi-R with it :D

Personally I wouldn't fit it to an SR engine as I think it could possibly result in damage to the rocker arms

Paul from SE had it on his Sunny.
MOTEC Powered... lots of bangs :D

A mate has it on his evo sounds very nice but they say its halfs the life of the turbo if not worse lots of flames though

Well your just a nutter!!! and it was you that told me something along the lines of I'd rebuilding the engine every 5 months:rolleyes: .
I theory it should work and it would flame like a saturn 5 but the fuel econemy would be shocking, 10mpg at a guess :(
Yeah a friend of mine has an aftermarket ECU on his Calibra Turbo which comes with switchable Anti-lag, basically when you lift off it retards the ignition timing by something daft like 90º so the fuel is actually burning as it comes out of the exhaust valves
He hasn't tried it yet but I can't wait 'til he does 'cos he's gonna melt his engine, the daft Vauxhall driving fool

I read somwhere that the EG temp can read upto 1800 degrees!!!!
It works on the principle of the heat differential between the manifold and the stub pipe causes VERY fast moving air from very little air/fuel mix.
