going to give making a water injection kit ago, cant see it being hard to do. Anyone done this on here? any major things i should know about before i start?
there is 2 ways i'm thinking at the mo, first way would be simple washer bottle with the washer pump pumping water from boot (because water would be colder in boot) in to the engine bay. A micro swith would turn it on when at 2/3rds+ throttle. but not sure if pump would be powerful for a mist? idear 2 is much the same but using a v12 jag fule pump, that i have laying about in the loft. that should have the balls. oh, and i'm not trying this on my s13 yet, it will be on my thema turbo as that is worth much less. any idear's would be great

I think you need a very fine mist, don't you?

I was considering doing it with just a manual on/off switch on the dash

There are loads of good sites on the web that show you how to do it.

Basically a washer pump and washer jets aren't man enough, you'll need a decent high pressure pump that can push 60psi + through brass misting jets.

The Jag fuel pump might be OK providing the internals are made from stainless steel. Most fuel pumps aren't although I believe some Lucas pumps are. Bare in mind that failure of the pump when its controlling detonation will result in a holed piston so it wouldn't pay to take chances.

You need to make sure that the pump is powerful enough to over come boost pressure and spray the water. You're gonna need a nozzle - try aquamists web site cos you can buy the components off there. I have an Aquamist kit but I haven't fitted it as yet, gonna run 50% methanol in with the water, it's worth having a read on thier site about it all, very informative.

Wizards of Nos also sell kits!!

The Aquamist nozzles should work as long as you run more than 60 psi.

Yeah and they kick ass as well. running mine on 50 methonal 50 water, no det and pulls like a train. have to fill it quite alot though (about 1 1/2 ltr a week) your better off having a pressure switch to activate it though, that way it only on when needed.

My mate bought an evo I Integrale that appeared to have some strange sort of "washer fluid sack" in the boot. He eventually found out that it was a ready to go water injection system which he just had to activate with a new relay!
