Just some shots of our 4mth old Husky pup playing in the park.

Couldn't resist diving straight into the muddy beck:

That's a gorgeous pup!!
Have you ever had any issues with him/ her wanting to just run off? We did a lot of research into Huskies cos I REALLY want one, but apparently they're very likely to just bugger off til they get bored, so most people won't let them off the lead.
The breeder we were talking to advised us not to have one as we've got a pair of Bengal cats too, he said they won't be safe with a Husky. Apparently even after years together the Huskies can just suddenly decide to bump them off on a whim :D
So now we're looking at Akitas, not quite so instinctive :)

Well, we heard all the same stories too, though we spoke to a malamute breeder who said they were largely myths. Kira is actually crossed with a white alsation, we were hoping this would give us the benefits of obedience that alsations are renound for, and so far it's definitely paying off. At 3mths old, she could already sit, offer her paw, lay down and roll over on command, as well as returning whenever we shout her. The only problem we do have is that she loves to play with other dogs, but she's certainly better behaved than any other dog I've looked after. We've also got two cats, she doesn't bother with the older female at all because she doesn't run away, but she likes to chase after the younger male, presumably thinking it's a game. However, when she catches him, she just puts her paw on him and licks her, there's no malice in it.

I think there's a lot of horror stories for any breed of dog, Akitas being one with their aggression etc, but I know a few people with Akitas and they're very loving, loyal dogs. I always think it's down to the dog, not the breed.

Make sure you get some pics up if you end up buying one, they're gorgeous dogs

^^^ What everyone else said. :smitten:

I imagine huskies take a lot of exercising and playing to keep them occupied! My sister's got a spaniel (springer cross) and she says the key to wearing her out (and stopping her becoming bored) is to make her brain work - new challenges and tricks all the time.

The Girlfriends got a Husky/Border Collie cross - very pretty, very clever, and utterly utterly mental :wack: :D

Fantastic dogs

Only real problem with them is that the only surefire way of getting them to stop running about like mad things is to get them too hot - which normally involves me having to run about like a mad thing aswell for half an hour or so :wack:

Kate's has also got an unfortunate taste for rabbits - dead or alive :hurl:
