Must have more money than sense if he can cope with the depreciation that selling and 03 plate car will have cost him and then buying another one.

And it's still a scrabble wagon.

The Saxo was the insurance replacement from this..

.. and he didn't want another Saxo, but they wouldn't let him have anything but a replacement, because the other one was a mere 51 plate I think..

S'a nice car, nonetheless. Scrabblewagon or no scrabblewagon. :)

Are you saying it was some kind of new for old exchange? since when did insurance companies do that, they normally offer a pitence.

Sounds like your mate got a good deal

Official story: Car fault caused the car to jolt to the right, into oncoming traffic, over-corrected, spin, hit a lampost and a wall.

Actual story: Got nudged off the road by a black Punto "turbo", into oncoming traffic, over-corrected, spin, hit a lampost and a wall.

But it happened along a notorious "racing" strip in Huddersfield, ergo the feds would've been convinced he was racing. His only injury was a bit of a bruised back, and a few cuts on his hand where he put his hand through the windscreen.

Aaaand it was Citroens free insurance, they should've offered cash or the replacement, but due to many many screwups, he got lumped with a car he didn't particularly want.

So, yeah, he's lost some money, but ultimately, who cares. :| :)

Which is exactly the view you'd expect.

As it happens, he's just turned 25, is the Manager of an erotic lingerie company, is scarily intelligent, and dresses annoyingly smart. He does drive fast sometimes, yes. Why else buy a quick car? But he does drive safely.

He was going to the cinema, and had set off from traffic lights perhaps all of fifty yards prior to the incident, when the Punto overtook him on the left. He was doing 30-40. He says this, and I have no reason to believe otherwise.

For what it's worth, apart from being a lump of plastic, un-styled, plain and uncomfortable, the VTS was a more than capable little car.

Ta :)

sub-7 seconds 0-62, I'd class that as fairly nippy to be honest. (Book time is 7.4 or something similar, but always conservative.)
