View Full Version : Where can buy steel in Bristol?
After bits and pieces for repairing rust etc and a few other odds and sods I'm customising and strengthening. I will need some steel sheet of a couple of different gauges and some bits of angle and box section of different sizes etc.
Ideally I don't want huge lengths and sheets, so somewhere that sells reasonable sized offcuts would be ideal. Anyone have any suggestions?
Andy or MrPARR got a massive like 2m x 2m sheet for something silly like £20 delivered on a pallet
otherwise i here theres a metal place up in brislington somewhere that dumps old metal in their skips out there building...
Avery, Knight & Bowler in Bath city centre sell offcuts or will do you pretty much whatever size you like :)
I paid £2 for a 2'x1' piece of 1mm steel.

Just go in and ask for whatever you want.
Local fabrication engineers should have offcuts that would be suitable. Go and drive around a few industrial estates.

Cheers for the help guys, think I will check out Fred Powells first as they look just the job
Website for anyone else wanting materials, they also do mail order and delivery on anything over £10:

Right, managed to get a mate to pop down to Fred Powells for me as they are only open when I'm at work! Now got everything I need plus alot more - wanted some steel angle for repairing my jacking seams when I do my sills, but they only did it in 20m lengths so thats what I've got :wack:
So if anyone local wants some angle for doing their seams I'm your man
