Right.. Im on a mission to find out why the wheels on my new project are sticking out more to the n/s than they do on the o/s..
From what I can work out this is more common than what people notice, check your own car next time you might just be surprised..

At first many people will suggest that the car has had some sort of accident but I am 99.9% sure this is not the case as the strangest thing thats baffling me is that its the same for both the front and the rear...

I have recently had the car laser aligned and all wheels are sitting straight with the same settings, and the car drives spot on straight.

1st thing I checked was the wheels offsets-they are all even.

Ive been under the car with a measuring tape, measuring between obvious points in order to try and find where the difference is but have had no joy.
I have removed and checked the thickness of the brake discs and measured how much stud comes through, no joy
I loosened the front subframe and attempted to shift it across 5mm in order to equal out the variance but again, no joy.

The difference is about 10 maybe 12mm both front and rear almost as if both the subframes have shifted across equally..

At 1st I was unsure how common this sort of thing was then I remembered my old skyline was faintly similar but only on the rear, so then I tried to search for some answers and found a few threads, but nothing that comes to any conclusions!

180sx wheels stick out further on one side - SXOC Bulletin Board (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=222062&highlight=wheels+stick+side)

The only solutions I can think of so far are... spacers on one side :wack:
or fully adjustable lower arms/wishbones £££££££
although again neither are really ideal

OR... FIND and FIX the problem!

Any suggestions oh wise people?
Or better still has anyone had this same problem and found the root cause?!?!

arches flared differently

Nope, standard un-flared arches which helps to measure too as they are even

I think the drivers side wheels on my car stick out further than the passenger side to but only by a small bit 3mm at most

is it not just the camber is slightly different causing the tops of the wheel to sit out.

ive read about it before but on skylines. iirc theyre all like it and it never caused any problems bar aesthetics so they left it. think it was in a copy of banzai or similar

My S14 is currently like this.

I am going to wheels in motion on the 1st of May so hopefully it will turn out to be a case of uneven camber which is most likely I think. I have heard of this sort of thing before and its normally just accepted...

This is found across a whole range of models, mostly with Nissan's !.....

I think you will find it mostly comes down to differing Tolerances in the Manufacturing Process !

There's almost nothing that can be done about it,... Although adjustable Arm's do allow you to bring them within spec, But are costly and have their own problems !

Hope this helps. :sxoc:
