Has anyone else had the opportunity to have a go at one of these. It was on a '93 plate, but the roundy shaped type. I thought I was gonna get me arse kicked cos it was all shiny rims, body kit and phat zorst, but, har har, he had the missus with him, me didn't. Any way from what I could tell he was giving it some and I was keeping up, till he got stuck behind some tail enders near Asda. Arf arf. SX... coming thru sucker:thumbs:

I've had plenty of goes at my mate in his Supra (he's got a 98 twin turbo) and I kept up pretty easily up to 140. Mind you then he had another gear so I was pretty much bolloxed at that point :D

I've got a mate who has just bought a G reg Supra auto, apparently manuals are rare as hens teeth. As soon as I get a chance I'll have a go at him and we'll see won't we.

A couple of things:

1) It's impossible to tell the difference between a TT and a non-turbo from a normal outside view. The only cast-iron clues are a 5-speed box if it's a manual, the lack of traction control as standard, and the lack of intercooler in the drivers side brake duct. You're not going to be able to spot those when 'progressing' at speed ;) So bear in mind you might be racing an NA. Only exception is UK cars which are all turbo's, but then you have to know what you're looking for to tell the UK's from the imports...(headlight washer jets are pretty reliable for that though - imports don't have them).

2) A 200 needs about 270bhp or so to match a near-standard TT. Power-to-weight isn't the whole story, as Supra's have immense amounts of torque available from right down low in the rev range.

Having said that, it's perfectly possible to tune a 200 to be faster than a Supra, as a few bast..., er, people have demonstrated. :p Mind you, I have yet to *start* tuning mine (just you wait till I get my new intercooler Carter - then I can get a boost controller and wind the boost up to 1.3bar :D)

If my plans come together as I hope, I'll be running in the region of 400hp by end of year, so yes Keith, you had better watch out :D

Although it has to be said that the MKIV Supra is just so powerful that some people have put traction control on it just to be able to navigate roundabouts properly

Touchy!!! Is that how its spelt?

I can hardly justify RLTC on a £500 car... It doesnt make the flames from the zorst larger you know:p

Anyway mine survived...
