My word... is this kid good  Over the last week ive found myself watching Barcalona games - Vs. Valencia, Stutgart ad Zaragota.
In those 3 games, Messi scored 8 goals:notworthy. Everyone was a cracker and a handful were literally out of nothing.
We (in England) talk about Rooney being certainly one of the best players in the world - some will even say he is THE best. But compaired to Messi - he's not a patch.
I'm too young to remember the likes of Maradona - but its pretty universal, he is regarded as the greatest ever player.
Surely its not going to be long before Messi is regarded alongside Maradona:eek::nod: - Admittedly, they both have the same playing style - which makes it easier to compare.
Messi - Greatest EVER player?? Yay or Nay?
(Bit of a random thread - but I do like sportsman who are simply a whole league above the competition - L Armstrong, U Bolt, P Taylor:wack: etc...)

I would say he is the best in the world:nod:
I was watching commentary, and some of his goals are all self made, and some are out of nothing as you have mentioned.
The likes of Rooney had a lot to thank their teams for, tho Rooney is a great player and has a super work rate, a lot of the goals he scores are down to his peers playing him in/to him.

Messi - Greatest EVER player??
YES :nod::thumbs:
Actual Ronaldo before he got fat is the best Ive ever seen. The way he would pick up pace in his first few steps was nothing short of astonishing.
Agreed though, Roony is on fire but Messi is something else atm. Lets hope the rest of the Argie team isnt half as good or the World Cup has already been won

^^ What this man said:thumbs:
Cesc Fabregas is the best midfielder in the world at the minute aswell.
And i can't see the argies winning the world cup with marradona in charge, his tatics and team selection are boarderline crazy and they was lucky to even make the finals.

Ronaldo in his prime was in a different league for his generation too. Unfortunately his prime was just too short.
A YouTube of Messi:

The boy has skills:nod: Especially the last goal 4:15 onwards:eek::notworthy
I also think, in Rooney favor... Rooney would make the transition to La liga better than Messi would the Premier League. Its not really measurable (as its not going to happen) but Messi wouldn't be half as effective in the Premiership - clearly he'd still have moments of pure magic - but the premier league is far more physical.
he certainly is an outstanding player one of those who rightly is world class
when talking about best player in the world at the moment Cristiano Ronaldo is on same level as messi in my opinion, justas effective as Messi and actually scroes more.In La Liga hes scored 17 out of 19 played in an injury and suspension interupted year
Rooney is quality different kind of player but just as influential. I don;t agree that he relieson his team at all cos if you watch Man Utd week in week out hes the fulcrum of everything United doand I;d say the team rely on him morethan he relies on the team
The fat Ronaldo is also one of my favourite players, quality player and I wish he;d steered clear of injury more cos we would havebeen comaring him to Pele in my opinion
Fabregas best midfielder in theworld!!! Ha Ha maybe in Premiership but when considering best player in world not just midfielder theres Xavi and Iniesta who I love watching. amazing players who are masters of their craft, they are the reason Favregas doesn;t even play for spain that often. Maybe one day for him as he isa quality player
Messi best player in the world - yes, best player ever - not yet, he is a brilliant player and imo a lot more effective than C. Ronaldo, his stats all season for Messi arent just goals but assists as well.
I agree Ronaldo in his prime was easily the best player of his generation, as was Adriano, who in his prime could sprint with the ball at his feet from his own area and score the other end, as much as i hate Man utd i have to admit Rooney is probably the best out and out striker of this generation, couple that with his workrate and enthusiasm for the game, makes him easily the best player in Britain, and in the top 3 in the world.
I agree that Fabregas is one of the best midfielders in the world, but i think the best midfielder in the world is Essien, complete footballer and could walk into the first team of any club in the world with ease.

Maradonna has got them playing long ball and probably not to their strengths.
Time will tell, only 11 weeks to go. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Can you tell I'm a little bit excited?

more effective than ronaldo? My belief about Cristiano is the fact he is so effective in goals and assists
Essien is quality but not sure I;d have him over Xavi and Iniesta
