tempting but not ready yet beed a month or so... seems to be a trend, where is this place anyhow?
we could try and tie it in with the May meet couldn't we? depends on the location i suppose though.
I'd be up for this, circuit motors was good last time.

OK, I've just spoken to Circuit Motors who did ours last time.
I thought their rollers were out of action but apparently not. (Just the FWD ones, though they can still run FWD cars on the rear rollers).
The prices are:
£40 - Power run
£45 - With boost and a/f ratios (recomended).
I should be able to offer a £5 discount to paid up members.
They have said they may be able to drop the price a bit if enough cars can be confirm as 'booked'.
Saturday is probably the only day available. I don't think they are open Sundays. This weekend and the weekend after are already booked. I'll check the calendar and find a date that doesn't clash with anything.
Shall we get a show of hands for those interested...?:thumbs:

Just realized the 2nd weekend, 12th, is the Classic and Retro car day at Castle Combe and the usual Action day track tickets will be available.
Shall we have the Rolling road on a seperate day so it doesn't clash or shall we go ahead with the 12th regardless?

thought matt was going to organise this??
Sorry dude. Matt was away and thought it best to progress it. People were asking what was happening. I have to admit I was reading the latests posts and not your original post. (Hence the sudden change of venue).
Should be an easy one to sort though.
As jon200 has already suggested, the rolling road at Circuit is expertly run and I'd be more than happy to recommend fellow club members use them.
(The same applies to Dave at Interpro, He is a total rolling road expert. However people weren't so impressed with the data included on the graphs that they gave for their road runs).
If you think this company is any good and Matt is happy to vouch for them, then you (or Matt) are more than welcome to take this off my hands and arrange it at your preferred place. Though it may also be worth putting up a poll first to get peoples preference on venues.
Price v safety and good data? I know which one I would choose, not to say I would go to the one in Cheltenham, just to watch:wack:
Speedy0o
22-05-2010, 17:23
I agree with the safety side of things to be honest, I'd rather be happy with a run with all aspects monitored and something go wrong than something going wrong without anything monitored!
At least that way they can see what's going on and if something is not right they can pull the plug and save your motor with the benefit of being able to see what went wrong (roughly) :)

well hang on a sec,who said lateshift havnt got all that equipment??
well ive had my car on the dyno and on saturday as we had a dyno wars day and there were no issues with the roller or the cars that went on it.
managed to see ive got a misfire at 4500rpm and see my car wasnt boosting properly as my exhaust is blowing.
but if you girls want to worry about taking your car above 3500rpm then fine but it was all good.
that includes you aswell ben lol
thanks

Alright trappy we're all tired!!!
What were saying is about experience! If someone been working on the rollers for years then they are gonna understand things alot better and could see any problems that may arise beforehand and know what to expect!
Lakeshift only having the rollers for 5mins has no reputation yet and therefore as far as we can see their experience is minimul when playing with cars on the rollers!
Now I'm not meaning that they don't know what they are doing, not at all! But untill proof of the pudding has been shown I'd rather be safe than sorry when trusting my car in someones hands who is doing strainful power runs that could result in 'BANG'!
That's my tuppence worth :)

With regards to my suggestion of having the RR day at Circuit on the 6th, to combine in with the Action day next door...
The Action Day is actually on the 12th not the 6th. So that ones out the window.
It would be good to get this RR day progressed wherever it's happening, so have PM'd Ben-chelt to see how he wants to proceed. If nothing happens and people still want a Rolling Road day I'll get another thread going.
In the mean time track time can be had at the Retro, Classic and Sportscar Action Day at Combe is on the 12th for anyone interested. (Though this does clash with the Longwell meet).

ok well we held a rolling road day/dyno wars at lateshift racing in cheltenaham and it went really well.
Paul at lateshift will be looking at holding another event in june so really we need to find out a date that will be suitable for everyone.
There will be drinks and maybe a BBQ going on but you might have to cook your own food because of health and safety reasons but drinks will be avalible to buy there.
it will be 30 pounds for a run of 3 runs and if you want to buy drinks its extra. A introductionary pack should be given out when you sign up for the day.
if we can sort a date out then il let paul know and we can get one done.
many thanks ben
Is it a dynodynamics roller? Will they do boost and afr inclusive in the £30?

Right then, Ajec Racing in Cheltenham have given me a price.
£35 (£30 for full members)
for that you get power, torque, afr and boost graphs. There is also a food van on site:thumbs:
they seem to know their onions about evos and stuff, and a local member is using them for some work
minimum of 10 cars, maximum of 30. Should it come to it, Full members would get priority.
in regards to lateshift, a member from here has warned me about them, so must admit I am not too keen to put your cars on there in our name tbh.
Anywhere else people want me to look?
I'm not fussy, I expect a poor Reading and smoke on overrun as usual :-(

Ben, although I appriciate you are trying to help organise something in club spirit, you are coming across very oppinionated and sometimes rude, not one to start a fight here as not my intention but pipe the f#@* down and listen to what a lot of experianced members are saying, there is a reason why they go to tried and tested .
Also stop being a tight arse and pay your membership:whip: you might get more of a say:p

Now now ladies put your handbags down! Its only a rolling road day!
I dont mind where we go personally as long as i get a nice print out (with a decent figure :wack:) and have a safety precautions in place should something not be right! And most of all I just want to have a laugh which is what its all about... A bit of fun!
IF we go to Ajec then so be it and if we go to Lateshift so be it!
Lets just get a date sorted that we can all make! I personally need to it to be a weekend as I work throughout the week.
Lets get a show of hands who would like to go and then amicably come to a solution on where abouts we are going to go :)

where is jibber when you need him:wack:, but in his absence...
wind your neck in son!
You can of course put your car on any damn rollers you like, however if one is going to be organised on here for our members, then it is not going to be at any old place. A member who I trust mechanically said lateshift couldn't run a bath, seeing as i don't know you or lateshift from Adam (or eve for that ****ing matter), i know where my opinion lies. And i haven't got a clue who this matty may be, but i guess he is not a full member on here;)
Now i have suggested Ajec because people wanted a set of rollers nearer to Cheltenham, if you can name others then i will investigate them also:nod:. Other than that we can stick to the ones we have tried before and know they are decent. (Circuit, Powerstation etc.)
Either way, we are going to need at least 10 definate names to get anything organised anywhere, so get your names down if you are interested:thumbs:

As long as you get all the AFR and boost graphs it can show you quite alot. Whether you have a boost leak, if your turbo spools up quickly, if you have poor fuelling which can be any number of issues. So in short yes!
