View Full Version : censorship
Now apparently I'm obsessing (again  ) but this is annoying me.
On Tuesday morning (schoolday) I was watching one of the music channels and Lose Yourself came on. Now all kids should be at school, so why the hell was the swearing blanked out and the song ruined.
Am I the only one who thinks censorship goes too far sometimes? :(
coz some kids could be off sick i guess or the school could be closed due to arson
all the little Fcukers swear anyway :D

And why do the news reports always say 'the suicide bomber has amongst the dead'. Obviously, otherwise they'd be an attempted-suicide bomber:rolleyes:
and why do peanuts cary the label : Cation, may contain nuts?
It's becoz. That's why.
Why do some cars claim to be All-Wheel-Drive instead of 4WD? Does the spare wheel drive as well, along with the steering wheel?

Four wheel drive applies to cars which you can switch between 2WD and 4WD like Landies and Range Rovers, where AWD applies to cars that have permanent four wheel drive like Imprezas :)
Because the type of little satan to skip school and watch TV is stupid enough to be influenced by that kind of thing?
As far as labels and safety goes, I said get rid of them and let evolution weed out the weak and stupid.

Personally I think they shouldn't bother censoring TV / films. If you don't like something, then don't watch it. If you want to "protect" your kids from offensive language then it's your job as a parent to do it, don't expect everyone to have to take responsibility for your obnoxious little sh!ts

So why are they still censored after 11 o clock at night eh??
I remember me an me mate used to do a bit of a mobile disco thing - got the gig for the local junior school :)
This was about the time that "who the **** is Alice" tune was big
Anyway, we start playing the clean version of the tune and I swear, where the bleep comes in, every single child ages 7-11 shouted "FCUK" at the tops of their voices. The headmasters face was a picture!! :D :D :D

Nah, I do believe in watershed hours on TV and 'ratings' for films. I remember when I was about 25 hearing a bunch of 16 year olds talking about how 'great' the violence was in resevour dogs and how they'd 'like to try' the torture scene. Bit worrying really.
You have to put ratings on films and censorship on TV because some parents are to thick to realise how impresionable the young are. After all it's a sad fact that you need a licence for a dog, but not one for a kid.
Is it me though, or have standards really dropped in the last couple of years? TV is now way more risque before 9pm and now we get billboards with bums on them.

At the risk of sounding sad, there was a caveman program with, how can I put... Willies and muffs (!) in it at 6pm on beeb1 or 2 a wee while ago. But surely nudeity isn't bad so I agree with this, they should have the same rules for all progs though. Just because a prog is educational doesn't mean it should be allowed to show things (violence and nudeity) that would otherwise be disallowed on other progs (soaps for example).

and so do the teachers?
Difference is that the teachers don't swear in front of pupils, but the pupils often swear AT the teachers....
...and there's not a thing the teachers are now allowed to do about it.

Not gonna work mate
1. Too many parents have f*ck all responsibility towards their kids. How may times have I been getting the bus home in Manc after a night out (like 2-3am or something) and seen little kids (under 10  ) pissing about on the top of the bus. Too many.
2. Too many parents are happy for their kids to have TVs in their rooms and turn into TV-addicted little zombies.
/me takes off middle-class-morality hat :)

No, no, no... you mean AWD now that Subaru's changed the lexicon - Land Rover must have been wrong in their terminology all of those years... ;) :wack:

When did Subaru use the AWD monicker? Volvo have been using it for quite some time now. :)
