McLaren F1 beating Lotus?

i been speaking to someone i know who runs his own lotus club.. hes importing a 240bhp lump civic type R lump, will get 280hp out of it with a few changes here and there.
once this is in he reckons it will out pace a mclaren F1 round a track....:confused:

now granted this is a serous lotus esprit... spent about 20k on suspension, brakes etc, no expense spared, and hes done a hell of a lot of track days... and hes not the kind of person to bullsh@t either.
Car weights approx 750kg, with 280hp,
= 373hp/ tonne.
Now this thing aint going to be slow, but Mclaren F1 beating?!?!

im not too sure about this, as i thought F1's were the kings of a track, no expense spared etc. etc..
and i a bloomin tricked up lotus can outpace it, whats the point in an F1!!

If you fit a Magnex exhaust(£300), and washer jet L.E.D's(£20) to a Mclaren your talking at least another 150bhp, maybe 200bhp with viper stripes!!!:D
