Finance Companies and Servicing

I know someone who is going to return their car to the finance company early. Normally they wouldn't have to pay anything to do this, but they didn't get all the services carried out at a main dealer. As a result, I think they will get charged by the finance company as technically speaking it won't have a proper service history. Does anyone have experience of this and how much they are likely to get charged?
