The micra filter is the same thread as the CA one, but is a smaller body, like it would have had originally.
I used a micra one on my 180 when I had it.

Ah, That might be why I had so much fun getting the original one off, the one that was fitted when the came came over from Japland was the same siza as the CA filter I subsequently fitted myself.
As the old one was stuck on firmly I had to use a spider to get it off - That was damn near impossible thanks to the clearences :annoyed:

I think it was for a K11 micra filter though when I got mine from Halfords. The mid '90 shape one :)
Also, see the thread here (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?p=3112261&highlight=oil+filter#post3112261)

looks like micra filter it is then ! anyone got ideas on a fuel filter size or part number , people have been saying go to halfords for them?
SR20 shouldnt we be using S14 oil filters?
I just got an S14 filter and it went fine with a bit of encouragement.

The thread's different on the RedTop, it's the same as on the CA and whatever sowing machine is in the Micra.
Forcing an SR filter on may not be a good thing AJ! Hopefully you've only destroyed the thread on the filter
The thread seemed the same, only it was like it was recessed in that I had to push the filter in as I screwed it on like the rubber was too thick.
Saying that I'm starting to get suspicions its an s14 bottom end with a redtop head..?
I'm doing an oil change on friday so I'll see how the filter looks when it comes off.
Is there an easy way to work out what the block is - engine code or something? (sorry for the hijack!)
well i have the blacktop SR so hopefully my S14 filter will be ok.
joe is using an S14 filter on his redtop i think and he didnt have any issues

Just cause yours is blacktop doesn't mean it's the same as the s14. The blacktop is an identical engine to the red top in an s13. I use pulsar filters. There are identical in size and fit perfect.
If he used an s14 one he has prob knackered the threads. Hopefully it just damaged the filter threads

Use the largest filter you can get hold of  i run a massive on my skid car :D
Can't remember which way around it is but the difference between the S13 SR20 and S14 SR20 is one is imperial thread and the other is metric thread.
If it was a S14 block it would have 65F stamped on the side of it, and its easy to notice as the S13 SR20 does not have water heater exchanger
Clarkey

Mines is an s14 block and I don't have the heater exchange as you have to swap filter housings due to it not clearing the stuff above it

Does it get in the way of the plenum ? I never tried to fit it to my hybrid engine, just used the redtop take off as to junk the s14 crap.

Na the water pipes that run round a red top are different and there're is a water pipe points down right where the heat exchanger goes. Can't remember what the pipe eventually went to though lol but it was no big hassle swapping it over. Also had to swap the dowelled water pipe coming out the back of the eater pump as it was totally different
it's suppose to say water pump but for some reason it keeps sayin eater pump
I just got one for my PS13 Redtop SR20DET this weekend. <£4 from halfords, ask for a Grey Import Pulsar.
so in this case then the sandwich plate i just got which came of an S14 import will not fit my engine??

Basically unless you can get hold of the thread part separate
If it was a S14 block it would have 65F stamped on the side of it
Where abouts on the block is the stamp? I had a quick look and couldn't find it and been searching through pictures but can only see it stamped on the head.
k11 micra oil is what i have always used,i have seen a s14 oil filter used on a redtop and it popped off,i used a z32 fuel filter
part number 15208-70j00
 That's the one you need. Why all the other debate when this is the correct part number for the filter? :)
