It's what the XP one was based on and it's pretty good (well as good as a software firewall gets I suppose ;))

No, I'd steer clear of Kazaa, I used to use it loads but I heard bad things from reputable sources!

I use Zone Alarm, its free and its incredibly user friendly and best of all it appears to work!

Most, if not all firewalls can be set to either inform you of an attack/program trying to access a resource so that really shouldnt be an issue!

Id second that, zone alarm is very good.

If you want to test your firewall go to http://www.grc.com and look for sheilds up! - you need to run both 'probe my ports' and 'test my sheilds'

I'm on a dial up connection but I still wouldn't connect without Zone Alarm. You can get it here (http://www.zonelabs.com)
This (http://www.grc.com ) has quite a bit of info on internet security but there's loads out there if you do a google.

I think you can get a 30day trial of the pro version (it's not much to buy the pro one), but the normal one's free and totally does the job

well, i'm quite pleased....

The firewall on my router is doing its job according to these tests :)

Only FTp showed as open to attack but then I am running an ftp server.
