View Full Version : MOT Woes!
My car failed mot today  The main reasons where my headlights, rear fog. At the moment I run a HID kit from bren. The way it works as it plugs into where one of the bulbs should be, that piece of plastic with three slots in. The reason it failed as I have no high beam and the beam pattern is wrong. Fair enough went home unpluged all my HID system, fitted normal bulbs and sorted out the main beam issue. Now I only get normal (driving) beam on one but main beam on the other? The reason this didnt happen before as the kit was getting the power/signal from one bulb. Why would only one light work on normal beam and both on high? Checked all fuses and I am still stumped! I also got Andy from PV to wire a fog light in. Now for 2 years has been working fine and now it doesnt.
Bloody car
P.S no one got a spare washer bottle?
pissed, rub his palm with a £20 ;)
i could do with a washer bottle too, if anyone has a spare after Carta
You've got Bi (hi/lo) HIDs and they're not working properly?
I wasnt very clear, sorry. Right last year was running normal bulbs, bit shit so I upgraded to HIDs. While fitting them I noticed some dodgy wiring from japland and proceeded to cut remove it. The HIDs worked but I never checked Hi beam as I didnt need it. Came to MOT and no Hi beam. So I came checked the wiring and fixed what I had removed now Hi works as well as Lo on HID kit, apart from one bulb has broke. But the problem with using the HID on MOT is that the beam pattern was shit and I cant adjust it. I thought I would remove the HID kit back to how it was before, and no lo beam on one side but Hi on both, is that clearer? So I could replace one HID bulb to get HI/Lo working but have shit beam pattern/alignment. Or figure out why lo beam doesnt work on normal bulbs!

Maybe the low beam filament is gone on the one bulb. Have you tried another bulb?
Brand new bulbs, swapped them over!
