ive just been given a LG26LC55 LCD TV, i have a PS3 which i have play tv with. i have them connected via hdmi, and the menus are crisp and games are crisp, but when i go to video play back of downloaded video or play tv the video is crap, like it is really low res even stuff ive recorded.

dvd playback is grainy at best, i havt found my bluerays to test, but to be honest im debating weather to go back to my CRT as for video playback on my PS3 (the main thing i do with my PS3) is far better. i have connected via scart and that is worse.

any ideas

On the PS3 In the system settings under Video i think theres a BD/DVD upscaler setting to convert normal res to a higher res
Theres loads of settings i had to change in the settings menu for the HDMI to properly work

Hope this helps

some older games use lower resolutions (i guess simple ports from Xbox) Vegas 6 is a prime example of this, run it in 1080i/P and it looks shocking, run it at 760 (or whatever it is) and its fine

play tv is SD content and dependant on the channel can vary between ok and shite! depending on the compression....

but saying that, play TV on my 31" 720p display play tv is better than the built in digital tuner. have you had the latest play TV update??
