Morning all

I need to create a website and buy a domain name, The techy side of thing is no issue as web development is part of my job, but I have absolutely no idea how to buy a domain name and a hosting service, as everything I do is simply uploaded to our already exposed servers and I set it up in IIS.

So, basically, what do I need to do to buy a domain name and space that can serve ASP.NET 2, and preferably with SQL server functionality? Although having said that, XML would be fine (and thinking about it, much simpler, security isn't super important, it's not sensitive data), I just need to reference and update a data store.

Any help greatly appreciated, as well as reccommendations.
Cheers
Si

Find a good .NET host and find a domain host. It's usually just a case of pointing your domain name at your web host's DNS servers. Most web hosts should also provide some sort of database server too :)

My recommendation - www.clook.co.uk

Been with them for 5+ years, continue to impress me. Any issues/support answered within minutes, never noticed any downtime, prices are not the cheapest, but they're not expensive :)

Cheers for the responses guys :)
For ease of use, I'm relly looking after one company to do it all - the site only needs to be up and running for 6 months (although I'm guessing from what I've seen most will have a minimum 2 year contract or summat) and it's not going to be a high traffix site in the slightest! It also needs to be cheap, as it's not worth paying loads.

So most of the above will perform the domain name registration, DNS referrals, and webspace then? as that's what I'm after - ease of setup is the key. I also need someone who's going to be happy setting up the file permissions for the XML/DB access, or give me sufficient privileges (I'm guessing through a web interface) to do it myself.
