where you can just stick a DVD into the drive, press go, and leave it for a few hours, at the end of which you've got a divx movie?

Can't be arsed anymore with the usual method of using about a million different apps/converters/calculators to produce a divx that ends up being just a few MBs too big for a CD

Cheers :)

Yeah theres loads mate. They never work out quite as good as doing it all manually though.

Try EasyDivX (http://www.downseek.com/download/21833.asp). Seems to work ok :)

Easydivx is good.

Read the instructions carefully. I ripped a dvd to divx and it generated a 50 GIG file and filled my HDD.

Thanks - I'll give that one a go :)

66 hours later and EastDivx says it is decoding audio, but CPU usage is zero... bloody divxs...

Cheers,

If you don't mind the hard way, I'd suggest going to www.vcdhelp.com and perusing the downloads section :)

I tend to use dvd2avi to 'backup' my dvds. It does require some setting up but when you've figured it all out you can batch process everything.

http://www.doom9.org is usually pretty good for advice and downloads.
