View Full Version : NIP Speeding...HELP!!
Help!..Just had an NIP sent through the post a few days after the incident. They haven't stated what speed I was doing nor have they attached a picture. I have read some of the threads re not signing the NIP and sending it back, has anyone actually tried this?
I think i may have been doing over a ton, so need to avoid this best I can!
Any thoughts as to what I can do to avoid this would be most appreciated.
Thanks.
email turbo-pete - he's knowledgeable in such dilemma's ;)
He's already tried PMing him but got no reply yet (from yesterday). Anyone else any ideas?

A bloke I work with has done it. He sent back the NIP without signing it. They sent it back with a letter saying "sign it". He sent it back again with a letter of his own (again, unsigned), saying "after taking legal advice, I have been advised not to sign it". He's not heard anything since! That was about 2 months ago :D
See a solicitor if you reckon that is the speed you were doing.
Don't send it back yet.
I'm suprised it doesn't state a speed though.
The NIP is just to see who was driving. just got mine through :(
So they know who to send the stuff (fine, points etc) to. I never knew the camera's had such huge ranges. My detector went off and I was a good long away from the van. Over 96mph and you'll really want to avoid them (court I think), i'll just take my points and fine though.

Radar or laser? They're putting lots of mobile vans on the A590 (my local A-road to the M'way) and I'm starting to get twitchy... I've got a Snooper, but not 100% confidence in it...

laser, as I was the only person on the road at that point, it told me that i'd been court by it. I could argue they didn't have the reflective stuff on (at a guess because it was a hot day) and how was it a black spot but I was speeding so no point really. it was forward facing as well so they can prove i was driving!
I heard this _might_ work: ;) Not that I've done this to avoid a 12 point year-long ban you understand!
Blame it on a local petty criminal, at an address where he used to live, and where the new occupants don't know his whereabouts...
It helps if you REALLY don't like him, and if the police don't know where he is either...
Now, if the guy has a bit of history, are the Plod REALLY going to hunt him down for a £60 fine they know they'll never get, as he'll have spent all his cash on crack???
I didn't think so!
Yeah but how do you explain letting mr crack fiend drive your car :)

You don't have to... they don't ask!
They simply ask for the name of the driver... not WHY he was driving,
If they do ask, you just say you let him borrow it, and he left you his car.

Apparently, no-one has ever been convicted on the strength of photo ID.... something about not being reliably conclusive.
