View Full Version : Rolling Road tuners in the area?
I was recommended at the last Jap meet to have my car RR'd because I've not had it long and don't know the full spec on it. Some say that the BHP figures that come with the car are a little too good to be true and I just want the piece of mind.
It's an Import and I've already found a couple of things the seller didn't know about e.g ATS twin plate carbon clutch, braided oil lines, Adjustable lower arms, ARC baffled sump and some other little bits and pieces. Would just like to know what else is there and that its all running smoothly.
I was recommended a place called Japan tuning in Aldershot who is aparently Nismo certified and knows his Nissans. anybody used him or shed any light on this?
if you are near aldershot mate, get on the blower to eurospec2000 in normandy, they have a dyno dynamics rolling road setup and i trust the guys implicitly - one of the owners runs an r33 gtr and knows his nissans well:nod:
The Sussex and Surrey lot will be doing a dyno day at some point soon if you just want to find out what the car is running -a few of us from this way usually go along, and for a chinese after :D

By Japan Tuning I think you mean Tuning Japanese - I personally would avoid them after the experiences of a couple of my mates there :(
I've heard good things about Eurospec though :)
Surrey Rolling road run a Dyno Dynamics setup too - although thats all they do, so technical advise if things are wrong will be limited. They can check the basics though :)
yeah do not what ever you do go to aldershit japan tuning.unless every other rr gets blown up.my mate took his skyline there b4 he knew anythink and they over charge and fit the wrong product from which he asked for and still trying to solve it a year later (i no that you asked for a rr just advising) surrey rr is prob your best bet or rising sun performance also have a rr.
Yea Tuning Japanese was the one recommended.
It sucks because one person will say Tuning garage A is crap, I recommend tuning garage B, then another guy will say don't use Tuning garage B because of blah blah blah, use tuning garage C, then someone else will say Don't use B or C because of blah blah, tuning garage A is best because of Blah blah.
Everyone has mixed opinions or knows a guy who knows a guy who had a problem somewhere and you never know where to go lol. Grrrr
How do you know where to go? :(

I think the first question you should always ask is 'have YOU actually been there and taken YOUR car there?'
It's all well and good people saying 'my mate / my mates mate went there' or 'I've heard xxxxx are really good' but it's all stories passed around that are usually crap IMO
Only listen to advice from people that have actually been there themselves!!
Thats how I ended up going to that shit bodyshop, by listening to peoples comments of 'I've heard they are good'... ..well they heard wrong!! :whip:
My old S14a was one of the cars in question 'tuned' by Tuning Japanese.
I bought it from my mate, who had paid them a considerably large sum of money (over a grand if I remember correctly) to fit an AVC-R, do a few minor bits and pieces and 'remap' it. I had an invoice for this fact along with a RR printout - the invoice stated that the 'AFRs checked and adjusted on the rolling road'.
After I bought it I did some digging, as at the time it wasn't possible to remap the 14a. The ECU was still sealed, but now had a Tuning Japanese sticker on it :rolleyes
So basically they charged him a load of money to put a sticker on the ECU, it hadn't been remapped in any way, or the AFRs adjusted. I rang them to query and said my mate must have been mistaken, it's not possible to remap the 14a... They couldn't explain the invoice...
My other mate used them to remap his import scoob back when they were rare (this is pre-2000, a fairly long time ago) - it holed pistons twice due to bad mapping :(
So unless they have changed hands recently, I wouldn't recommend Tuning Japanese.
i half agree with lou-lou.but when you have so many people saying stay away, then i would.when you have people like jez who id say is a well respected tuning company (no's his s**t) saying go to use a certain rr then the fact he takes his cars there should be a good enough resion to go there  then again how much can they f**k up on a rr

How much can they fcuk up? A fair bit I'd imagine if they don't know what they are doing!
Note SRR day is now booked:

Keep an eye out and get your names down :D I'll not be doing a run, but I'll pop down and be there if theres a chinese after again! :D
i'd put my name to eurospec all day long - they have got me out of trouble a couple of times now and it just doesnt feel like a garage when i go down there, more like a social - no bullshit, straight mechanics that will advise on what they would do but leave any decisions up to the customer at the end of it and keep you aware of the cost at all times.
as for facilities they have a little viewing room next to the rollers and have free hot and cold drinks and also dvd, ps2 and order dominos in if they have a full house :)
