Hi guys/gals,
Amy wants to buy a new tele for the living room and to be honest I really dont dont know wha I am looking at. Not kept up with times.

Being Amy, she wants it tomorrow:rolleyes:.

The Criteria
Looking at 32in (dont have the space for bigger)
flat screen:rolleyes:
good build quality, ie want it to last a few years
Must be able to pick up tomorrow
Sub £350 although could stretch £400 if you twist my arm.

Two I have looked at are:

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0801336023.126202057 5@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccccadejellfldicflgceggdhhmdgml.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=892582&category_oid=-34024

but really have no idea if either are any good.

Many thanks:thumbs:

Are sony still as good as they used to be?

Also, anyone know how much this model is in store, I would trade in my old telly to get the £50 off

Head to Richer Sounds in Bristiol and have a good look at the telly's there. All the spec studying and opinion hunting on the internet cannot beat actually looking at potential telly's, imo. I find picture quality to be pretty objective and what one person finds good, another would find unacceptable.

The samsung is probably a good bet, that range has had good reviews in other sizes anyway.

I would have suggested the Panasonic, but the C10 is the lowest in the range, and I can't really comment on Panasonic's LCD range, I've only looked into their Plasma's.

Basically anything from the main players such as Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, LG, Toshiba should do you well, but if you can get a decent demo that will help. No real need to worry about 1080p at 32" as you'd need to sit very close to see the benefit, but as has been mentioned, worthwhile making sure the available connections suit your gear.

I had a Toshiba 32" LCD which had a great picture, but I've just upgraded to a Panasonic 50G10 :D

Oh, and if sub £350 is a goal for you, Currys had a Sharp 32" LCD in the sale for £299. Don't know anything about it though, just noticed it when I was instore the other day.

we just had the c10 in this morning, its quite basic but a lot better than the equivilant sammy, the only thing its missing from its next model up is 1 hdmi and a pc input.

Hallsy you basterd :D i wanted the 50 but had to settle for the 42 .

Call up your local tesco, ask them when they are getting in the 32" Technika on offer. Its true full HD, freeview, 32" LCD, and its £199. They will have had some in yesterday, and then should be getting some more in early tomorrow! I purchased (well mum did for me for now) two yesterday, they are cracking tvs!

Haha!! The missus wanted me to go no bigger than a 42", but I got such a good deal on the 50G10 that I couldn't turn it away.

When the box came she spotted 42 on the side and was happy that I'd got a '42'. Once unwrapped she was even happier that I didn't get a '50'. Until a couple of days later I revealed that the 42 was 42kg, and it was actually a 50" panel!! She swore at me a bit!

Glad you're happy with yours :) Panasonic make some lovely plasma's :D

That is indeed cheepy!! £199 for a 32"

I have the 22" Technika here and really like it - IMO it's brighter than my brothers Samsung and has ZERO blurring etc - it's only downside is no digital audio out (the same with that 32 :() however it does do analogue out through Scart if you use a two way adapter :)

The quality on it is lovely! Im happily playing games on it, the refresh rate is good, and no blurring at all! Digital out is a pain, but i got the sounds all worked out now!

We went with a samsung but not the original one... Had a look at each screen and put all settings to the same and agreed that both samsung and sony looked t he best but the samsung was £30 cheaper. Very impressed with it :D

If I had the money I would have bought an LED tv, wow they look sexy!

Thanks for your help gents, actually looking at the screens makes the choice a whole lot easier

Haha, it was just a bit of luck that it happened like that!!

Well, I was lucky enough to grab one when Very had some 'half price' at £750, and then used a 15% discount code, taking it down to ~£640 delivered. Quidco were then offering 9% cashback on purchases from Very so I've tracked another ~£58 with Quidco.

Quidco may or may not fully track because I used a diso**** code, but time will tell, so best case is around £580, worst case £640 :D

Absolute billy bargain, especially as I was considering the 46G10 when Dixons had them for £750, which is a great price for the 46" as well..

Hally, you should be ok with the Quidco tracking last time I used Littlewoods to buy some Xbox Live Points I went through Quidco and used a discount code and got my cashback.

That is a cracking deal on the TV too - you must be seriously happy :D
