View Full Version : Anyone fancy going to "racewars" this weekend?
The SSR boys have arranged a racewars type day out in crail on saturday.
Basically u get access to the oval, the quarter (but with no timming gear) and a circuit made up with cones i believe.
Myself and Martin are both booked up for it, and i just wondered if any of u guys fancy it?
Mike?
Thunder?
Dunc?
Kenny?
Alan?
Mr Midgers?
Gee?
Its £35 for the day, and it is a full day event.
SSR would prefer it members only, but Dave has told me that u can basically register with the site as the first month is free, and come along, and if u dont wanna take up membership after the month, then u just pay no money.
Kev
Can't - I'll be in London as of tomorrow morning cos my Mum is having a heart op today :( Going to visit for a few days.

Sorry to hear that Brian - I hope everything goes sweetly
If i do crail this weekend I'll be a single man before the weekend is out - i've got some brownie points to earn at home, plus I'm out drinking on friday night so would be bad turning up still p*ssed
Have fun :p
Kenny - did you get a talking to after your boy dropped you in it about the shiny new zorst with the wife? :D
sorry to hear that Brian, hope all goes well mate:)
Did you forget about me Kev?:(
I've got everything crossed right now - She's being operated on at the moment. Should get news about 4 or 5.
She's in for the ross procedure to replace her auortic valve in her heart (by swapping valves about). Seemingly her valve has been defective since birth, lucky it was picked up on that it was now closing rapidly when she went for a check up for something else in late April. It's a risky operation in itself, what complicates things is that my Mum has been Type 1 diabetic since she was 12 and was just recently diagnosed with having coeliac's disease as well
I'll stop now, I'm probably depressing everyone!
Hope everything works out Brian.
I know how it feels when members of your family have heart problems as it is a trait in the males in my family that is hereditary:eek:
Both my grandfathers have had valves replaced and my dad has had two slight heart attacks, the first aged 37:eek:
Gee, sorry mate.
so u wanna come?
ur in the ssr now anyway.
Brian, i got crossed fingers here too mate.
Oh and Kimberleys mum is the worst ive ever seen, had more ops than ive had hot dinners, well u know wat i mean.
Basically she has a thing called cushins desease which means her pituerty gland doesnt work.
so she has to take steriods every single day, if she doesnt, she will die within 3 days.
However the steriods themselves cause almost as many probs as they solve.
for instance the thinning of her arteries, which meant she had to get a stent put in after a heart attack on her 40th birthday party, and will have to get another put in in the very near future.
Oh i could go on.................
she takes on average something like 44 tablets a day.
No exageration, and certainly no joke:(
depressed enough yet?
Sucks ass dunnit :(
Doesn't look too good for me or my bro either - my dad's dad and mum's dad had heart attacks, now my mum with heart problems and my dad's brother recently had a heart attack  On a brighter note, my dad has been OK so far and he's now 46.
Thanks for all the kind words boys :)
Kev, I dont think I'll make it!
Just thought that you had forgot about me that's all:cry:
That is pretty sucky Kev :(
Just goes to show, we all gotta be greatful that we're here and pretty healthy.

RaceWars Update
Hello folks.
A slight change to the running of Racewars after talking to Willie at Crail...
Instead of splitting the morning in half with a shortish track then the big track, we will just be having the big track. The reason for the shorter track was originally because it was a bit unfair to the smaller engined cars to have to try and keep up with the big uns on the large track. There are now a couple of chicanes on the big track which should even up the odds. This will also mean more track time as we won't have to stop half way through to set up different tracks.
Other points:
On arrival...
I will have tickets for all those who have paid. Please see me or Ailsa as soon as you arrive at Crail. Once you have a ticket please make your way to the track office where you will be asked to fill in their disclaimer and hand over your ticket. If you have bought the place of someone who couldn't make it, please tell us and you will get their ticket.
Crash Helmets....
Helmets are only compulsary for drivers of Soft-tops, although I would recommend wearing one no matter what you drive. Crail will have a few to borrow, and the club will have some spare too.
Drift tracks.....
Willie has informed me that he has inherited a BMW, which we are welcome to play with round the Oval/figure 8 drift tracks. I'm pretty sure it's not anything special, but it's a great opportunity for any RWD virgins to get a taste of rear end action, without worrying about your drive home.
BBQ....
Willie will be supplying his large barby and coals for the day. Just bring food, and possibly a fire extinguisher, lol.
Quarter mile/Pink-slip Challenge....
You can buy Pink slips when Willie is setting up the lights for the quarter mile. £2.00 each or 3 for £5.00 . Remember, only WINNING slips will count towards the winning prize at the end, but all slips will become raffle tickets for prizes donated by the event sponsors:
www.the-garage.co.uk
www.funkyproduct.co.uk
www.carartz.com
Please give generously, all proceeds go to club funds.
Petrol oil and brakes...
Plan your fuelling well. It's a long drive to Crail, and the nearest Shell garage (optimax) is in St Andrews. Track use will empty your tank very quickly and you still need to get home afterwards.
I can't stress enough the importance of checking your oil levels before you set off. If you know your car is using oil then take some spare with you.
Brakes. As above. Check your pads TODAY, there's still time to get replacements. Nothing worse than doing a couple of laps only to discover you're down to the metal.
And lastly....
Please oh please take it easy and build yourself up gradually. You have all day to play, and there won't be any prizes for the best overtaking manouvre. Don't be pressured into going faster than you feel comfortable with.
We are representing the club, so take it easy through the towns on the way up to Crail. We'll have plenty of time to put the foot down once we get there.
See you all on Saturday.
Dave.
