Now that vodafone have released their price plan I thought I'd be able to work out exactly which company was going to get my hard earned.
It seems vodafone have capped their data useage at 1GB as apposed to Orange at 750MB, both have unlimited wifi however, and O2 has unlimited both.

The thing that's pulling me to vodafone is that i'd get free calls to the mrs as we're both on vodafone at the minute, but we could change to another network each and still get that deal as we're both due an upgrade anyway.

Vodafone have unlimited txt messages on their Iphone plans whereas the others are capped, although at a generous level.

So my main concern is this data useage. Do any of you iphone users know if you use over a GB a month over the 3G network that vodafone is capping - or is that a generous ammount?

but it didn't help much.

data usuage an be pretty high i would say exceptionally when you first get it as you be downloading all the apps under the sun

but then if you have wifi most of that will done on that if your using at home

depends also if you are going to be using sat and and gps stuff on it as well as that could rack up data charges

i dont really know how much i used as i was on 02 so it was not capped

since getting my 3gs (just under two months ago) ive downloaded 1.2gb of data, bear in mind i rarely download apps now as i transferred from my old 3G

so i assume most if not all of that usage has been emails and apps connecting to servers etc.

1GB could be limiting, does the provider intend to tell you you're reaching the limit? if not i can see it'll be very east yo go over

I reackon I use way over a Gb a month! It's forever on facebook/SXOC/eBay at work, then there's tomtom downloading traffic info and emails aswell

not to mention all the apps etc.

But I never even come close to my 600 mins and 500 texts

Imagine that limit would easily be exceeded on YouTube alone

I use well over that as I'm on the phone constantly. however I don't get near my minutes or text limit.

You can send e-mails instead of texts aswell if you do run out of texts.

i use mine during free periods and googling how to fix things when i break them (daily), and i don't get anywhere near 1gb. if you're using internet tethering then you might use it up, but really how often are you gonna be downloading large files with your phone? the main thing that uses up my data allowance is constantly downloading useless apps on cydia or rock when i'm bored, or different versions of the tron theme on winterboard

i've also got a hacked copy of the tomtom app if anyone wants it, i refuse to pay for it when i've already spent £300 on a tomtom and only need the app when i forget my satnav

Well - just under 2 months and 1.2 gig of data fits okay, as does al. who sounds like you've been jailbreaking. I doubt i'll do that for a while as it'll all still be new fangled and I don't want to mess with it just yet till i get used to it and see if the benefits add up. Thinking about it now, I don't even get a 3G Signal at work, and when I'm home i'm either gonna be transferring apps from my PC or using the wifi in my house.

Vodafone it is then.

Thank you SXOC! Merry Crimbo!

yeah i jb'd and unlocked mine, piece of piss to do and everything works fine, apps still update in the apple app store etc. the most useful thing was the video app you can get for free on rock, makes the extra expense of the 3gs seem even more pointless
