He didnt, thats the funny thing

It was on the 10mph road out!

He was following a Beemer, who flawed it, so the civic showed off, and accelerated as he came round the bend, lost it, over compensated and put it into concrete block...

...he could do nothing but shed a tear

There's a thread going about it over on civic typeR bb but I don't think the member has revealed himself yet :D

Poor chap. Prob feels a bit silly but blah blah..
Must have been quite a hard knock though, cos it looks like the passenger airbag has gone off

JB

Ouch, that's nasty

How fast must he have been travelling to achieve that then?

SpeedyPete
04-06-2003, 17:35
yep!

And I saw it all :)

I turned to go for beer, saw the bm cane it and the civic follow then spam it into the pillar (which incidentally shook the flag pole or gate or whatever)

I was like "er... wheres the civic?!" expecting it to bomb passed the other side of the loo block :D

Hmm who was that dashingly good looking young man in those shade and cool Honda-R t-shirt i wonder...

Guy was a gimp for what he did to the car, tho ill have his seats and the arial

Do you think his insurance company would cover him for that or not?

Technically he was competing in a time trial, therefore racing, so no.

Saying that though, a certain insurer classes the nurburg ring as a toll road :D

SpeedyPete
04-06-2003, 21:13
The guy at the time was trying to work out how to drag it to the roadside to cover his insurance... point is his numberplates now on the web so he could be found out!
:D

It IS a shame, and he'll be kicking himself with thoughts of "why the hell did I bite when the BMW blatted it!"

he wasnt participating in a time trial at the time of incident - he was driving down the exit road wasnt he?

therefore its accidental damage - and should be covered

mattpayne

One word for him...

TIT!

:)

the strip is for racing down, the exit road isnt a race track...

that's right, because the entire front of your car falls to shit when you are driving down a 10mph exit road :D:D

Well, two facts, thanks to everyone for posting these pictures of the car, I bet the guy is well happy now its blatted everywhere, and if the police read these boards (and they do) then insurance companies certainly will.

The fact he was partaking in this time trial event, and the fact he was on private land (due to paying an entrance fee it wasnt open to the public) the guy is now screwed!

Id like to think If I ever crashed my car (god forbid) then the VULTURES wouldnt take photos of it, and discribe how I crashed it at the time, just to screw me up with my insurance

in fairness vez if the guy is silly enough to whack his car up in such a stupid way in the first place then he doesnt really deserve to get his claim paid - although you have to feel sympathy.

the fact that he's on private land matters not - his insurance would cover him in a car park for instance, or on his own/someone elses drive so that is not the issue.

End of the day if you are gonna do silly things you gotta pay the consequences. The fact that its all over the internet now doesnt make a lot of difference really - he would have had to have the car recovered from the scene by a truck and that would be noted, along with the several hundred witnesses at the time.

Just my opinion

I got no sympathy for him, I've seen people sit on those white concrete blocks, and at the bigger events secuirity stand there(fair enough this may have made him think twice) but at all the events I've been too at the pod over the last 12 years there hasnt been 1 were there were no young kids wandering about or on bikes or skateboards.
He dosen't deserve a pay out, we all wonder why we have to pay so much for our modified cars. My insurance has went up this year with me gaining another years no-claimshttp://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid64/pbea2da90eed8e3102b40556fce51f6ca/fbfff9dd.jpg

I feel better now:)

Btw you are insured on car parks as these are private property with public access, you are insured anywhere with public access!

that was the point i was trying to make vez. Its the same as going into the pod, you pay on entry to a car park and therefore the carpark allows public access.... you pay on entry to the pod and therefore there is public access - tis the same kettle of fish regardless of what he is doing there be it time trials or just parkin up in tescos.

I'm not mocking or judgin him - we all make mistakes, just some bigger than others and some have the good fortune of getting away with it...... others have the pure misfortune of smackin their car up in front of hundreds of spectators:o
