Please post here your suggestions for any electronic gadgets/dials etc. etc. that you'd like designed (and think others would like) in you SX's.

The most popular ones will go into production if feasible, to cut the overall cost of modding (and to prevent you having to import or pay silly money from well known branded versions).

Thanks

I've always thought it would be a good idea to have some electrical gadgetery that had the wastgate linked to an oil temp sensor.

I.e when the oil is under temp, the wastegate is kept fully open so that the turbo will not spool, but once the oil is up, it switches over and the wastegate operates normally.

You would then have a dash mounted contol with red and green led red for when its warming and you have no boost and green for go. Plus a manual overide in case you really need the tubo on boost.

This would surely automatically prevent wear of the turbo without having to worry about it.

Evidently I have missed somethin crucial as to why this would not work - but if it would work, surely it would be simple to do ?

Not a bad idea mate, i was thinking similar.... like an 'engine off' turbo turner that could keep the turbo spinning without using petrol, for like an hour :D

Yeah but without the oil circulating around the shaft and water cooling the oil then it wouldn't do much good :(

Who's going to design and make this electrical wizardry then Pete?

A 32bit engine management system with integrated control over boost with built in modules for nitrous, water injection, traction control, anti lag, sub injectors and multiple fuel pump options. It could work with air flow meters with option to convert to MAP sensor. And it would plug into the standard loom so anyone can install it. And it would wire inline with the stock ECU with a vehicle specific harness, so you still get cold start maps and other benefits from the factory ECU.

If you could do it for a couple of hundred that would be cool :)

Hold on Jon, ive got just the thing, you dont need any electronic gizmos, what you need mate is.......

The Moon on a stick!

On a more serious note however, what about a set of super powerful under car electro magnets which work when cornering, they'd be super powerful, enough to use the earths matural iron content to glue the car to the ground; An up scaled scalextric magnatraction!

See much simpler to design than yours Jon ;)

How about a four channel bargraph display EGT monitor?

Dead easy, once you decide on the senders....

TBH, if you want decent electronic displays, for EGT, Boost etc, you should try Pete Betts who frequents the Supra Forum.

He was demoing his kit last year at Billing and it looked pretty good. And cheap.

Boost controller is only as good as the solenoid/stepper motor and control circuit and personally I wouldn't trust a non proven model to not spike all over the place.

You can get a Profec B rfom Bren for 250 quid, and if you don't want to pay that much there are always second hand ones for sale on here and Ebay that'll probably work a lot better. If you don't want a second hand one, buy a Bren device.
