Hya, Ive been going around a few boards posting this up, and its gone down well.
Ive started a new club/Event called Race Wars (http://www.race-wars.co.uk)
Free membership for everyone untill the first event
Take a look and let me know what you think
Cheers

Ive looked.
I cant register and to be honest theres sod all info about what the site is about. It took me a while thinking about whether it was a game or if its for real.#
A better choice of music as well perhaps?
Premium example of a website with design over content... And what's with the music from a cheap 80's porn film? :D
Anyways, I guess the event would be kinda good, but there's really not enough info to be able to tell... Kinda gives an impression of a kid dreaming to pull off some kind of F&F shite. ;)
you are so MEAN Art
I'm on dial up and it is taking forever to open the first page to the site....
I do like that graphical naviagation jobbie. That's quite cool. Would look better over the black tho IMHO
OH and if you click on log-in rather tahn register, you can't go back... or if you can, it isn't obvious...

Ok. Yes there are a few things that need adjusting on the site, i do think that its not bad and it has only been up for nearly 2 weeks.
Im getting there slowly with both content and design
And ill make a decent back button for the login screen, i had actually forgotten to do that.
And its not just a kid dreaming of a F&F event, it is going to happen
And im 23:D
About registering at the moment its E-mail registration this is because my host hasnt changed me from MS package to a Linux package which stops me from using PHP forms for registrations
Hopefully this will be sorted out soon
CANT REGISTER! And im so happy theres a little button to turn that hideous music off!!
animalzilla
04-06-2003, 09:18
I think the instructions on registering are pritty stright forward, You put ya name, username, type of car and E-mail address in to an E-mail and send it to register@race-wars.co.uk
It wont be long before i have a proper form for you to fill in , but for now its going to have to be done like this
Sorry

I took a look, looks promising. I also think that instead of berating animalzilla, we should support him. the more events there are for us to safely hoon about in our cars the better in my mind! Good on ya animal  , I'm off to register as we speak :)
Errr....
Racing?!?!?!?

Ok fair enough, I do agree that actual "Racing" aint a great idea, but even so, perhaps we should be giving it a fair chance just to see before we start flaming animal about F+F and "kid dreaming" and the choice of music etcf. I'm not trying to be antogonistic, just think that we should be more supportive.
I wasnt being antagonistic, the details are VERY vague on the site, so I/we can only make assuptions!
I would just like to clarrify whether this is "racing" or "trackdays" as they are two completely different things...
Many trackday companies wont entertain racing, so is the level of marshalling, medical and emergency cover going to be as good?
Hopefully he can answer these questions, and again, im not dissing his creation at all, just very intreuged!
!!!!RIGHT, NO MORE DISSING THE GUY!!!!
Constructive questions only please!!!!!!
animalzilla
04-06-2003, 10:29
Right , The main event in race wars in the Quatermile, which will have marshalls, Emergency coverage and all the things you would expect to see.
the other parts include "Use of Race tracks" not actual racing tho more than one car at a time can use the tracks.
The reason we cannot provide actual racing is because everyone would have to obtain an MSA licence which can cost alot of money
I know i have one.
Other things include "use of Skidpans", Show and shine, sound off competitions
Every thing you would expect to see and a car show
Prizes and some other interesting things
Security staff to protect your cars and yourself, and to kick out the Silly little T**Ts that cause problems , such as pulling donuts on the carpark
I thin i have answered your questions , but if you are still unsure about anything please ask.
Cheers

sounds like an interesting idea. (thanks for the warning to turn off the speakers ;) )
and you appear to appreciate the difference between using a circuit for racing and using it for just 'trackday' purposes... i don't mind trackdays but certainly wouldn't want to enter my tvr into a race when there's some tosspot in their 50p nova thinking he can take me on and decides to remove my tvr from the circuit
thing is, i'm a bit concerned about the S14(a) owners' safety cos we all know SR20 engines fetch a fair price just a few days before Race Wars  :D
PS Please redo the entire site in HTML so that I can actually see more than a blank screen. Got bored of waiting for the download

yes , the last thing i would want is some stipid git to write of somones car and yes im am going to do a HTML site .
I did it in flash but im on 600k and i forgot about those with slower connections
Sorry
And i hope you all sign up and have a great time :)
wheres it gonna be?on the m6??the stafford road between wolverhampton and stafford???! :p
animalzilla
04-06-2003, 10:48
LOL, Well this is all 100% legal so no it wont be on the M6
Im looking for a good venue for the first event , i thought about crail in scotland but unfortunately they charge too much and i dont want to have stupidly high ticket prices
So ive been looking at Avon park Nr Southampton , there alot cheaper and its on MOD property, ill get on with those guys as im Ex forces myself :)
tanjuakio
04-06-2003, 10:49
would be good to try and getit fairly central, d'ya know anywhere in the middle, afraid I can't be much help with venues :(
animalzilla
04-06-2003, 10:53
Yeah thats what im looking for i thought of donningtom park but if i want to hire the track out for 1 day ( not the night time either) its going to cost over £6000, Im trying to avoid the high prices to make it affordable for everyone, i knwo i couldnt afford to go to a max power show ( not that id want to anyway)
there is one place i had in mind, Ternhill airfield where i used to fly gliders but i have to write to the station commander at RAF Shawbury and from what i remember he dont like people using his air fields, but ill keep searching, thats what im here for :)
this is sounding interesting!!but why dont u change the name from 'race wars' to something else? Race Wars gives the impressions its being run by a 14 yr old kid who watches F&F way too much, and instantly puts off people with average IQ and above. Why not a name change, once you sort your site out??And give as much information as possible......
animalzilla
04-06-2003, 11:01
Yeah ive been thinking of that , i might have a little comp to see who can come up with the best name? , i dunno what prize to give ?
What about free ticket to the first event?
What do you think?
And more info , yeah i think ill do that , ill have to have a think on that one:)

Sorry if I hurt your feelings, dude. :( I was just trying to point out the "defects" and to be funny while at it. Guess it didn't work out too well.
I guess my ethernet works as slow as a dial-up, then, since I never got anything else than a paragraph of text on the page, with two arrows to scroll it up or down. No menus, no anything (besides the button to turn the music off). That's the reason for the "design over content" -comment, as well as the F&F dreams-comment. Not too much info there in that one paragraph at least, but based on your comment about navigation jobbie, there must be something else, too..
pay me some money, and ill be ur PR man/spin doctor/staff writer....
animalzilla
04-06-2003, 11:07
Yeah , i think what people dont realise is that the little brown bricks with Bright Green tops are actually nav buttons
Dont worry you didnt hurt my feelings , i expect people to say what they think
And im still stuck on making a HTML site and im limited to what i can do as 1. im doing this with no help at all and 2. im fairly new to web building :)
animalzilla
04-06-2003, 11:09
LOL i wish someone would pay me
All I see is a big fat Missing ActiveX Component: MacromedFlash square... hmm
animalzilla
04-06-2003, 11:13
go to www.macromedia.com and d/load macromedia flash player 6
That might help,
either that or my host is messing about with my site again
Ahh I can't install Flash.
Is there no non-flash version ?
animalzilla
04-06-2003, 11:17
Not yet but im working on it ,
Anyone know HTML?
lol
Sorry , im not a HTML user so i need help with it
why cant you install flash?

Ahhh i take it you arent on your home Pc then?
I have had no problems with flash plugins and i can assure everyone that my site contains no nasties
I dont think the MOD would "take your word for it" ;)
animalzilla
04-06-2003, 11:26
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......................i see
Well i tell you what ill take screen dumps of the entire site and E-mail them or post them to you :)
Err...... well i cant really help untill i get the HTML site sorted
sorry
No it's ok, I'll wait for the HTML site and read what the others are saying :)
I can't install flash anyway, you'd have to convince someone a lot higher up than me that Macromedia have produced a solid plugin :)
And I don't like running it at home either :D
animalzilla
04-06-2003, 11:39
Well yes i see what ya saying and i know all about the troubles of the MOD
I think macromedia pluging are safe, ive been using them for a good number of years now and not had any problems. but each to their own :)
Ill see if i can motor on with a HTML site, cant promise anything yet tho
shadowninja
04-06-2003, 18:49
why not post up the info in a plain txt file then just to stop us whingeing fvckers :D

Ok im guessing that u have registered on SSR then, and have been cruising their site?
Because as it happens, would u believe it, they have organised an event this weekend at crail airfeild, and would u believe it, its called "racewars", they have been running it for a few years now i believe.
U said too expensive, its £350 to hire out for the day, how is that too expensive?
I will be going along to this event as will Dobergoose.
Its priced at £35 and for that u get use of the oval, the quarter mile (although not the timing equipment) and a track which u can set up urself as its basically a big ole airfield.
I think this is a great price for a full day event, and we are gonna try and arrange a trackday at crail between us northerners in the very near future along the lines of 10 folk paying £35 each.
so can anyone who is interested pls state ur interest in the scottish section of the board.
Kev
animalzilla
05-06-2003, 10:10
yes i know all about crail, that was going to be my first choice venue but , if i take 10 people thats £35 per person = £350
If i take 300 people its still £35 per person =£1050
They dont lower the price the more people you have
Why hire out a track that sets your ticket prices when i can hire out a track by the hour and reduce the ticket price for a "weekends" racing (not a days racing) from £35 to about £10
Which would you rather pay? £35 or £10? or think about the people who dont have as much money as you (like me for example) i would rather pay £10 for a weekend because i cant afford £35 plus travel costs especially all the way up to scotland.
Even if i could pay £10 for a days racing id still be happy and i would get more than just a go round the track
But i do see what youre saying , thats why i do things differently, im trying to reduce the cost of events
Nice car by the way :)
Just get a big black screen..
using mozilla under linux..
James

Have you got the Macromedia flash plugin?
and what connection speed are you running?
thanx, but ur are wrong bout crail im afraid.
Its £350 for the track no matter how many people u have.
so if u take 350 peeps, they pay £1 each
animalzilla
05-06-2003, 14:46
I have an E-mail from Crail stating their prices and i enquired about the £35 a car for more people and they confirmed that no matter how many i took id still have to pay £35 per car
I have been in contact with tracks all over the uk and i have e-mails confirming all their pricing structures.
If infact it was £350 for a 'private hire' then im sure i would be using crail as a venue for the first event , as it happens with the current information i have from the Crail team , that is not an option
If you'd like some help with the grammar/layout aspects of the site, I'm sure a few on here (including myself) would be happy to lend a hand. :) T'would look a lot more professional, to go with the funky buttons :)
Am I the only one who doesn't mind the music?
