I know the general opinion on the gas station car wash is they suck.
Is everyones opinion the same? Do they really cause as much damage as people say they do?
No there not that bad
There 10 x worse

Depends if the person before you put his aerial down.
Saying that, I've used the new carwash at safeway in Maldon, a few times. Does a good job. :)
However, a handwash is always much better :)

I've never been through one that did that
I've found that car washes with nylon brushes scratch the car to buggery.
But for the past year I've been using an Ocean Wash that opened up near me. you know the kind, with a pre jetwash first followed by a conveyor through felt pads and that's totally brill IMHO. No scratching even on Nissan Emerald (look at it and it scratches) Green.

Im also the proud owner of a multi-scratched Emerald Green car.
Any idea how to make the scratches less visible without cutting the paint work?
So if i can find a car wash without the nylon brushes, chances are it could be worth using?

The last car wash i went through thumped the rear spoiler when drying, it also left me loads of nice scratches. Thanks very much
Hand wash with sponge and dry with leathers now. No comparison..........

Don't wash it. EVER.
I've used a BP garage on the A12 a few times now (when I'm feeling too lazy / tired / hung over :D ) and I must say that it does a pretty good job - granted it is not anywhere as good as a handjob  but it doesn't scratch, and even gives my undercarriage a good seeing to as well!
Car washes always try to break my wingmirrors :( there is a new local conveyor one, but I think it uses whirly thingies rather than pads.
Just do it by hand - you get a much better appreciation responce :)
I'm too scared to go in them. :o When the dryer comes up across the bonnet, I've got this thing that it won't go up over the roof. Terrifies the hell out of me.
I know, I need help. :(
I use one all the time, about once a week and I have more problems with the towels they use to dry it than the brushes. A little Quick wax when I dont have the time for real wax and the towel swirls go away.
Lol @ Missy, I like the new drawing in your sig
Because the sensor on the car wash's in sudbury are at a low level , and my car has been lowered it now thinks my nurspec is where a wheel is , so it cleans my doors with the wheel scrubbers
I have now purchased a bucket and sponge.

I'll never ever ever go through a car wash, let alone with my pride and joy!
I wash my car by hand at least once a week, most times twice, and I know that it'll be done properly and will gleam better than any car wash!
