View Full Version : Sky Man has been dancing on my car!!!
Basically Mrs booked sky plus for install today, I hadnt realised it needed a separate feed from the dish...
My 200 is parked on my drive next to the wall where dish and wiring.
She rang me when he found the problem vehicle in the way, battery is off said vehicle. I suggested him pushing it forward 2mtrs, mrs driving as my she is due anytime:eek:
He refused.... She asked a few times then to re-book date.
He was firm and confident that he could get on with the job over the car.
I come home to find muddy boot prints on boot and roof....
Chuffed to beans:thumbs:
Anyone work for sky? Spoken to them, penning my letter with pictorial evidence tomorrow.

Id go to his work base and leave muddy footprints on his face :) Only fair
I would like a full respray as it must be hard to blend new Marlin panels in;)
Laughing about it now wanted to break his jaw earlier.
For those that have seen the car its not mint by any standard but it is nice, so I think I will milk this one

Ohh Sky love me anyway so something like this happening would finish the poor girl in customer services!
That's seriously bad shit Owen
Don't call them  write a well thought out email to them with every piece of information/evidence you have.
Date of incident
Times of calls
Mrs current state
Vehicle current state
You get the picture
Oh and don't back down, mail them every day until you get a response..
Yup i have had a few issues with my services, latest one being only receiving 2.6 meg on a 10 meg line !!!
Unlike me my Mrs is sharp, she has suggested what you have Nick. If I cant punch somebody I might as well be grown up and cause a fuss.
I had a lady with a slight grasp on the english language first, then a balchy cow possibly a supervisor.... ooooh!!
Got a 14hr shift tomorrow so will set some pictures and get a letter sorted Wednesday, thanks for your advice.

I like the idea of emailing the boss. Do that.
I used to have sky, got so fuked off with them i cancelled my DD and got Virgin HD. much better and doesnt stop working everytime it rains.
I have sent my letter off to them with some pictures, I will await their speedy response!!
I dont have the pictures to upload and to be honest there is no panel damage, when it rained the marks came off and looks like no scratching.
I would still love 5 minutes with the fitter mind;)
Thanks for all of the advice

jeremy.darroch@sky.com
hes the Head man.
I mailed him 3-4 weeks ago after tech/customer support ineptitude, and my issue got fixed post haste!
Mailed him on a Monday evening, and a nice lady called Jane rang me tuesday morning.
That is shocking to hear!
Cant believe someone would do that!
Cheers Aj
I have sent a letter and emailed Jeremy.
Lets hope we have a reply!
Pity I couldnt put in for a new windscreen as I cracked mine this morning!!

:( Not having much luck with this are you!

Gutted - I think buffy has weighed in that 14a shell - screen is mint in it too! Give him a shout mate, you can have it if you can get it out without breaking it.
Phill I was up there tuesday mate and it was gone then, fecking typical!! Paid the 30 for the actuator cheers!
I have weighed in 3 with good screens in... I am getting good at removing bonded screens too!!!
Dazz had one off me not so long ago.
Stupid fcuking mistake, slipped and tapped the screen with edge of cage 1" from the drivers top corner... Made a chip thought oh crap have to get that fixed.... then boosh cracks everywhere!!!
Fitting a cage in with an icy screen = Dull
Being a clubsy steaming hungover pratt trying to fit it PRICELESS!!!
One of those things

Gutted :( Its a result of the Sky man standing on the roof though isnt it? ;)
Structural stress on the screen Madda obviously weakened it. I would expect 3" steel tubing to bounce of the screen much better than that!!!!!!!
How did you get on after mate?? Any joy?

I wouldn't have one of those spackers from sky come anywhere near my house.
You can do all the work needed to receive sky, buy the boxes on line and everything Without having them near you.
Honestly it not rocket science, which makes it even more difficult to understand why many of there monkeys make such a mess of the install.
For anyone who gives a fcuk, and can remember this thread!!!!
I have had an damage assessor out. WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO
They are doing their very best to wiggle out of it, but he was a nice man and I was pretty upfront;)
I also managed to find a dent on the roof
Have had a visit from my mate at a local bodyshop so may be able to get some of my spare aero painted at the same time:D
Marlin must be hard to blend into the other panels:confused:
What can I do with the rest of the dogshit paintwork, scratches everywhere etc, should these panels get painted the rest of the car will look daft:down:
Can I use a mop and cutting compound on mettallic paint? Have used it many times on classic cars and sh!t I am selling but not my own.
Before someone says dont be a tight arse and get the rest painted, you need to understand it cost me very little and I am indeed very very tight! Apart from maintainence obviously.
Any Help appreciated

It will mop no problem
Cant believe this is still going on though !!
Do you understand car detailing mate, will I need to seal it after I mop it? Before you laugh I am the type of boy who uses the Mrs fairy liquid to wash the cars:D Streak free shine, even though I have a shed full of my brothers valeting potions.

You will need to polish the surfaces that have been mopped  how far you go is up to you though, top coat sealer will keep it nicer for longer or a decent wax coat would also do a nice job.
Cant the body shop do this for you though ? they may have to if the paint match is that hard
O and once it's been loved don't ever use fairy on it again it's the work of Satan
I realise its bad, just a lazy trout.
Thanks for the advice, have a pile of that Autoglym shit in the shed too but I think there is some sort of valeting sealant in there also.
Thanks for the advice boss
You worked out your issues on yours mate?
VIDAL BABBOON
13-02-2010, 21:28
Don't use the sealer it's for a freshly painted car or a professionally mopped car etc.
Im getting there with mine,
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa96/VIDAL_BABBOON/RANDOM/alldone.jpg
But i have created another issue in the process :( it's like a boost leak but i cant see where from lol
That I like, I assume thats a T3 based top mount manifold? What power are you running mate?
Makes the SR look a LOT more manly with the blower mounted by there
VIDAL BABBOON
13-02-2010, 21:49
Its the same turbo (2871 .86) but mounted with one of DB powers top mount kits.
Im having boost issues and cant run stable boost over 1.2 bar, and i want to be up at 1.5 Bar.
At 1bar it's making 326@wheels
So this was a step in the right direction, meaning that future tinkering can be done in 1/2 the time and messing about with actuators is now a 2 second job lol.
Need to sort the running issue out now though as instead of leaping froward i have taken a jump backwards lol

I remember this thread!
They are bringing the original fitter back to the house tomorrow 10am....
He is obviously denying it can see it turning messy.
Does anyone have and intelligent stand points to offer, I am a hot head and dont deal superbly with conflict situations!
I am sticking with the muddy boot marks and hopefully his company will see he is lying and pay for my paint?! Dream on eh, but we can all wish!

Don't get dragged into a "I didn't" -"you did" debate, If he's there to make good for fcuking the car up discuss his of his employers actions. If not Tell him to do one, your taking the matter up with the organ grinder not the monkey.
Organ Grinder has already been and is accompanying said Monkey tomorrow to assess the job and see how it was possible for him to complete the job without marking my car, which IMO is impossible.
Said Organ Grinder has aggreed with me there and cannot see why he took the job and did not refuse and come back another day which my Mrs tried to insist on.
Let the fun begin, Trouble is I am out on a bender in an hour so may not be the sharpest tool in the morning. May help ease my temper though eh!!!

If your a hot head dude, i quite often am in these situations, send the missus out!! Im sure she will scare them more, plus keeps you outta trouble!
VIDAL BABBOON
17-02-2010, 21:31
Don't get involved
Just make sure EVERYTHING is parked and placed where it was the day he did the job.
Explain to the organ grinder at the door that you do not deal with conflict situations very well hence you would rather not get involved with the "site visit"
He will understand entirely and will have to see what the monkey has to say and then act as a go between to fathom it all out.
If the organ grinder has already been to see the job and had your point of view then i can see no benefit in you being present during his visit.
Just my 2P worth :)
Recieved a letter today, in conclusion to our investigation we will not be admitting liability!!!

WTF??? How come?
They say he had no reason to stand on there even though his ladder was directly over it, they have done an investigation. I think its because no one seen him standing on the car. Although I think the boy was being repremanded about health and safety. It was always going to go this way
Time for a letter before action then?

A well worded letter using legal jargon may well make them re consider their conclusion.
I can pretty much guarantee that this has not yet gone any higher than an area manager, and if this is so and you go straight to the top stating that;
Due to the official final statement made by SKY on behalf of the willful damage to property by one of it's employees at the above address.
I have no further option but to begin legal proceedings to cover the cost of repairs/replacements bla bla bla
Or something along those lines.
It would have to be on headed paper and written well enough to make the reader take a second look and pass it on to the appropriate person.
It's also worth mentioning that until this point no media have been informed ;)
Push all the right buttons and they will soon re consider, in reality the costs to them would be nothing worth worrying about, the negative effect of bad media however and the fact that the media would then be interested in the court proceedings etc would hurt them far more.

Also make no direct reference to what you are talking about ;) if you get me.
If it has gone to the top already your address and name will be enough for them to reply to you with a suitable retort.
If however they have no record of it (fingers crossed on this) they will be contacting your areas installation manager to find out what the hell is going on lol
The shit may hit the fan and you might even get a phone call.
