Jst looking for some opinions really, looking to get a new tv and have kinda narrowed it down to the following:
http://www.sony.co.uk/product/t32-s-series/kdl-32s5500#pageType=TechnicalSpecs
or this:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/166889
(Budget of about £400, would prefer a higher spec'd 32" over a lower end 37/40")
It'll mostly be used for Xboxing, now i'm told i won't see the difference between 1080p (samsung) and the 720p (sony), and the contrast ratios are both quite high so (i think) there's no quibbling over that.
Is the Bravia a better choice due to the name or will the Samsung be the better choice down the road due to the slightly higher specs?
cheers

I'd go for the Samsung mate.
Always preferred Samsung to Sony (TV wise) and the specs speak for themselves:)
Also richer sounds are your friends. I cant reccomend them enough. massively helpfull, even on items they dont sell! If you print out those ads, take them in, they will tell you which is best and also show you what they can offer at the same price:) (when i got mine, it was between a tv they sold or one i found on the net at silly money, they reccomended I got the one off the net as the price was so good:))
you'll probably find the sony has a samsung screen any ways, but id go for the sony, pretty much all the current gen samsungs have really crap sound :(
personally id buy this http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/LCD+and+Plasma+TV/PANASONIC/TXL32X10B/218752
but as a rule, never buy without looking at the telly first, check one out at a local store then buy online.
We have a sony 720p downstairs, and i have a samsung 1080p in my room, you will notice the difference.
The samsung didnt cost alot more then 400 either, suprising what you get these days!

Good point about the sound, why do they always put the speakers in the rear of the tv?!:(
Saying that though Samsungs always look very nice

its a shame i know as its bloody hard to sell them, when half your customer base are middle aged and over :wack: my old le40 model sounds fantastic but the current version is terrible, and for that reason alone i wont buy another samsung.

I'd go for the Sony over the Samsung, but that Panny that BigD posted up is definitely worth checking out. You need to go and have a look for yourself though  Get yourself to a Richersounds

Chris, lighten that fat wallet a bit more and get a proper tv, not a portable!!!

This looks a bargain for someone on a cheap budget £229 for a 32inch lcd they also do a 37inch for under £260 alright if you dont mind the wood effect plastic:wack:

mine doesn't?!
I'd go for the Samsung, there's very little between the two manufacturers and the Samsung's 1080p would swing it. This first time you watch 1080p it is very impressive, WALL-E is worth watching just to see the detail.

your luky then, as pretty much all the ones we sell are crap, 1080p on a 32 in screen really isnt worth the extra cash either, side by side you'll see very little difference.

Just searched and found this thread and funnily enough Wall-E was the first HD film i watched and was on a 40" Samsung screen (not sure of the model i'm afraid).
Anyways, the reason for the search was because i am looking to get a new TV for the bedroom that will be mounted on the wall. Wanting a 32" ideally and have done a quick search and for the price range (£340-400) it seems to be between a few panels:
I have an LG 42" (42LG5010) in the lounge which i am very impressed with and Samsung seem to be pretty decent quality too.
Samsung 1080p (http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/551260/SAMSUNG-LE32B530P7WXXU/tab/reviews)
Samsung 24p (http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/523895/SAMSUNG-LE32B450C4WXXU)
LG 24p (http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/527807/LG-32LH2000)
With a 32" i wouldnt have thought i would notice a massive difference between 1366x768 and 1920x1050 but any comments/suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Cheers very much

With only £20 difference between the series 4 and 5 Samsung you may as well go with the series 5. My local Sainsburys had a big pile of series 5 32" Samsungs in today but no price on them.

So do you reckon there isnt a better panel for that sort of money then?
Will hopefully be looking to get it end of this month, maybe next month but will have to see :)
