View Full Version : Anglesey last Sunday
I had an absolutely fantastic day on the coastal circuit last Sunday. Shelagh hired me a Caterham for the day and what brilliant little machines they are :D
The wind was gale force and it rained lightly all day, with only one spell of torrential downpour that red flagged the course for 30 minutes. The end of the back "straight" had white froth landing on it all day, blowing in off the sea which added a slightly surreal aiming point for the swing to the right before "rocket"
I was amazed how easy it is to feel the car move under you and correct with the throttle and countersteer. Understeering all the way out of "church" until half way along the back straight was huge fun. It made a change to be overtaking Elises and even a rather tasty looking Evo. :D
A rather expensive day at around £500, but it's confirmed my long-held desire for one of these beasties.
Awesome circuit, isn't it? We went there in Nat's 'teg last year and it was amazing - I am crap at remembering corner names, but when you come up the hill, and over the crest, and all of a sudden Snowdonia hits you in the face, it's really, really ahrd to concentrate on not crashing :wack:
Beautiful track, and really nice to drive too.
Love the new Anglesey circuit!!
We have a winter race there this weekend. Looks like conditions are better than this time last year - last year temp dropped to -6 at night and the start was delayed due to ice on the track
That's "peel" down into the "corkscrew" and there was no view at all in the morning :wack:, compounded by the need to concentrate on braking on the slippy surface but when it cleared you could see what a great view it was. A great circuit for sure.

It looks like they've spent quite a bit of money on it recently, trees etc. But the burger van is the same guy - great chips

I'm going next year at some point
One of the guys in the office races Superkarts (125s) and was there this year and keeps harping on about how its the best track in the UK... must do it!
Yeah Angelesy is awesome!
It is the best track that i have been to. Amazing variety of corners and a load of fun, the range of bends and gradient are a real test for car and driver.
A load of us went up mid October, it was my first track day - CH1EF bravely let me share his R32GTST for the day - what a blast! The skyline was pretty loose at the back end with some nylon rear tyres but was fun all day. We ran the morning session on the National loop then in the afternoon they got everyone on the International loop which was bloody awesome!
The Marshals were also brilliant - fair with the flags but not overzelous. They even loved a bit of drifting (when not in traffic and if you could slide without spinning) which was nice to see, CH1EF linked the rocket complex and also did a banzai set of sides - linking out of Church a finding the limiter in 5th - which got the Marshals out and cheering him on.
Definately interested in going back, added bonus includes the epic drive across Wales on the twisties!
