I get offered a chance to go to an F1 test day and because he thinks i am under performing , but have a user satisfaction rating twice as high as anyone else. he won't let me have the time off.

To say i am ****** off is an under statement.

Now your turn let some of that anger out.

murder him - show what a caring sort of person you are by attending his funeral, and then go in his place ;)

not sure if he is legally right to refuse you holiday

'Employees are expected to give employers a notice period twice as long as the holiday they intend to take - so, for example, two weeks notice for a one week holiday. An employer can object to a request for a holiday by giving counter-notice of the same period as the requested holiday - so, for example, giving two weeks notice that the request has not been granted where a request for two weeks' holiday was made.'

Full DTI rules on individual employee rights here. (http://www.dti.gov.uk/er/individual.htm)

I am not that desperate to go.

I am not on a team that would have anything to do with HP, but no one on the team could go this week , so i got offered the chance.

As we have 2 big companys that back F1 teams people tend to go every few weeks, but i can't see me being asked again.

I know the feeling, but it's not my boss that stops me, there is always something else happening, be it other peoples leave, sickness, stupid DR tests, and many others. So far I lost the chance to go to Williams F1 for the day, Amsterdam conference, Houston TX conference, Houston TX again, and others less glamourous. I wish I hadn't thought about all this 'cos now I'm pissed off all over again.          and finally
