Is anybody interested in swapping an oil filer mount with built in cooler for the non cooler type?
Need the non-cooler type due to clearances on my kit car, car currently has the Cooler type & apperently the imports dont have these as standard
Cheeeeeers

The problem with swapping is we would have to change most of the water pipework to fit the s14 oil cooler as there is clearance issues between it and our pipe setup

Im pretty sure you just have to cut the pipe that tee's off from the block water outlet & goes into the rear of the block theres a 'how to' on Driftopia with all instructions & pics
:D

If you can get two I will have one please
CA18DET presumably?
I seem to remember a kit that removes the cooler completely. IIRC, someone (it might have been Vidal Baboon..... :wack:) even had their block tapped to take an oil filter relocation kit and cooler.

It's a shorter filter tree on the imports without the heat exchanger.
They also have a blanking cap on the block where the water outlet would be and there's no T-off on the main water pipe under the plenum for the water exit to join onto.
I did think about fitting the heat exchanger to my s15 SR20, I just ran out of time and the blanking cap was a swine to remove (and didn't get round to blowtorching it).

Dudes, you dont need to remove or tap any plugs, just remove the oil filter mount which is 4 bolts then this one bolts on in place, then you run the water feed which goes through to the back of the block through this!
Chris B- to put the cooler on you remove the standard filter mount & thats the part which im after a its lower profile than this and this one makes the filter hit the steering colum

How does that work? Just tapped the block where the oil filter mount goes?

The heat exchanger type will bolt to our car but the heat exchanger will foul alot of our pipe work going round the the engine and also as our manifolds are so low there is a water pipe that points down directly where the heat exchanger sits and goes to the plenum somewhere. I know this cause I used an s14 bottom end on my sil80 and had to change the big doweled pipe that comes out the back of the water pump also the one beside that is different to. So unless we reroute the water pipes the s14 filter housing wouldn't fit

Oh right ok well I just assumed you were talking about the sr as I don't think there's much 180sx imported here with the ca as everybody trys to get the sr/newer with less miles. As for that heat exchanger not being on an import ca I don't know as never seen one

How does that work? Just tapped the block where the oil filter mount goes?
Yup remove the whole assembly leaving the bare block exposed, then tap out to the size you require.
