View Full Version : Photo Comp 2009 - Round 9 Finale
This is the last round of the year so lets make it a good one :thumbs: You even get an extra few days to submit an entry ;)
Rules:
1. No image will be greater than 800 pixels along its longest side.
2. Image overall will not exceed 150kb.
3. Image must have been taken within the competition period, which is from 9th Nov to 13th Dec 2009 .
4. Only one entry per person, (please only send your entry once you are happy, you cannot change it at a later date)
5. Digital manipulation is permitted in order to correct technical issues such as dust or noise on the image. Subtle sharpening, levels and contrast adjustment are allowed, provided that the end result faithfully resembles the image that was in front of the camera during the exposure. It is not permitted to add or remove elements of the image or to apply digital 'effects'.
6. All photos have to comply with the general SXOC rules (no nudity etc)
7. Winner gets to choose the theme for the next round.
8. Entry has to be submitted before 10pm on the day of closure.

Well on this round if you did get 1st and Tommyb get's 2nd then you'd both have a tie.

Can I just say, I am REALLY sorry about the topic.
I thought it would make people think and make it open to interpretation. However it seems its just made it fekkin impossible!

I've had a few ideas but no time to make anything good from them. I really need to get something done tonight or tommorrow.

Ahhem.
Its a bit easy picking a specific thing though so I thought something broad would make people interpret it in different ways and be creative.
It also makes the competition more about setup and staging rather than just point and click. :nod:.

The rules of the competition make photographing something "surreal" very hard. i.e. the end picture has to show what was in front of the camera at the time.
So unless we all go melt some clocks (http://educators.mfa.org/dynamic/slides/attached_file_9169.jpg) it's gonna be a tough one!
I did have one idea, but it would have been very tricky and I just haven't had the time to contruct the scene :(
Yer it would have made a great Photoshop comp :nod:
Thats the main problem I've had with finding an idea - shooting something that doesn't require any PP to make it surreal!
There are things to shoot out there though, props you can use, unusual situations, seeing things in a different perspective/surrounding than you usually would, all those things are surreal.

I thought last months was the last one this year. Luckily one of the photos I took is quite odd, so Entry Sent! :)

Sounds fair to me, as long as I can get 26 and other than yourself no one else gets any :)
Maybe we'll have to use this round as the first round for 2010 :wack:
But on a more serious note, Mark hasn't been online since the 18th so maybe he's got something more important going on. Hope everything is OK :thumbs:

was also thinking about maybe having another poll on 'the best photo' of the 2009 photo comp, just the best photo regardless of whether it fitted the subject for that month, start a new thread and people put up there suggestions from the pics entered over the year and we have a vote on it, just for fun
