if one turbo goes do you have to replace both of them?

this is what a mate was told by silvia engineering and we all know they talk B*****S p.s they want 1500quid to recon them

Cheers

ideally yeah, cos if one goes the other prolly wont be far behind.

£1500 LOL, you can buy about 2003434 T25's for that LOL.

He's better off getting some PE1420's, good for 550-600RWBHP.

Was that 1500 including fitting?

Cos Zs are a bastard to work on.

Oh yeah good point, it's an engine out job which I think is around £700 labour at SE. I assumed that was just for the reconning of the tubs.

if it's £1500 all in then that's resonable.

Apparently Engine removal and refit of a Z engine is quoted at 16 hours labour.

And I can bloody believe it.

The impression I get from here and other boards is that about 1/4-1/2 of their customers are really pissed off, while the rest are fine. Depends if you want to risk it, really! However they do appear to be one of the cheeper outfits around.
You could of course try Autoenhance in colchester (round the back of world of ICE.

I just got a quote from my brother at Autoenhance and he says - provided there is no shaft or compressor wheel damage, then he will remove, recon and refit both your turbos for £1200.
if there is damage, then add about (I think) £150 for shaft and £100 for compressor.
Not bad methinks

Is that inc VAT? SE always quote inclusive of VAT

it is an engine job out on zeds for a tubby change.... i dont think id like to just change one tubby and then have the other go a few miles later = engine out again

Theres a place called progress engineering in Maidstone who will work on zeds - dont know what they are like but i know one VERY disgruntled SE customer that has been in conversations about removing his car from their yard and taking it over to kent (and no its not me - honest). Will see if i can find the number later if its of use?

Or just take it to SE's - as Ash and others say, some have problems, some dont.... some may exaggerate problems - never know. Up to you to try ;)
